    UK Tax Manager

    About the Role

    The UK is one of Uber's largest and most important markets within EMEA. Uber is shaping the tax landscape of the future and as Tax Manager UK&I you are expected to play a key role. You'll be heavily involved in strategy discussions around Uber's business activities in the UK and Ireland and all the changes in the tax landscape. The role will cover direct and indirect taxes, but will have a heavy leaning towards indirect taxes. You will be based at the centre of the EMEA Tax Team: Amsterdam.

    What You'll Do

    • You have the ability to operate independently, make decisions and thrive on execution
    • You will manage the UK VAT and international tax matters
    • Drive strategy discussions such as UK DST, future of work initiatives and taxation of digital platforms
    • Collaborate and maintain relationships with various stakeholders such as Operations, Legal, Policy, Accounting, Compliance and Communications
    • Be part of a cross-functional team that works on rolling out new products and services
    • Liaise with external advisers to ensure Uber gets the best advice possible
    • Co-manage audits, controversy and correspondence with the tax authorities
    • Collaborate with colleagues in the global tax team on various projects

    What You'll Need

    • A minimum of 8 years of experience in tax

    • Experience as a manager in a law firm, Big 4 accounting firm or industry in the field of UK VAT and international direct tax (we will consider candidates who meet most of the requirements)

    • UK Indirect and direct tax skills
    • Proficient English written and verbal communications skills
    • Analytical skills
    • Strong business acumen and organization skills
    • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced work environment
    • Open to challenging projects outside areas of experience or comfort zone

    Bonus Points

    • Experience with UK tax controversy matters is a big plus
    • Proficiency in other languages
    • Good Excel skills
    • In-house experience is considered a big plus
