Tyre Pipe Resonance Study Assignment – Apollo Tyres Global R&D (Enschede)
Who we are
Apollo Tyres is a tyre manufacturer with Indian roots. It’s an ambitious and growing company, with factories in India and Europe (Netherlands and Hungary) and sales offices all over the world. In our Global R&D Center in Enschede around 130 employees work on the development of new passenger car tyres and agricultural tyres for the brands Apollo and Vredestein. Furthermore, we have a subsidiary office in Frankfurt with around 25 employees.
Pipe (Groove) noise is the one of the major contributions in tyre pass by noise.
Open and closed channels are formed at the tyre contact patch.
Every groove with certain dimensions will be contributing to overall tyre noise level at a particular frequency (Natural frequency)
To understand the resonance frequencies, resonance amplitude and wave propagation within closed and open pipes formed by tyre tread pattern designs.
To understand how to influence pipe noise by changing tyre groove geometries. (Refer internal & competitor claims)
Understand basic of pipe resonance formed within tyre footprint.
Define geometries to influence pipe resonance.
Conduct analytical & simulation (COMSOL or equivalent tool) activities.
Conduct impedance tube experiment on 3D printed tyre geometries.
You are an enrolled Bachelor or Master of Engineering discipline.
You are available for 5-6 months.
