    Trust & Security - Law Enforcement Response Team (LERT) Specialist

    About the Role

    The Law Enforcement Response Team (LERT) manages requests for user data from police, the judiciary and other government agencies around the globe. These often involve emergency circumstances which require an immediate response. Every request is unique and must be checked for legal compliance prior to commencing exhaustive research to identify the exact data requested.

    We are seeking a highly-motivated, detail-oriented person with a strong work ethic to join our team of privacy and safety specialists processing requests for user data. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent judgement, prioritize effectively and work collaboratively whilst under pressure; communicating effectively with external and internal stakeholders.

    What You'll Do

    • Follow local government and Uber's policies in responding to requests from law enforcement in a timely manner.
    • Protect the privacy of our users' data through robust analysis of all requests against our stringent legal and ethical requirements.
    • Identify, escalate and respond to emergencies promptly and effectively.
    • Manage internal and external stakeholders through clear, concise and rational communication.
    • Research and produce clear, accurate and concise responses to requests.
    • Be flexible and prepared to cover weekend duties and public holidays as necessary.
    • Contribute to process improvement of procedures, new features/products to reinforce data protections of our users.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Fluency in reading, writing and conversational English.
    • Confidence to interact with police and other government agents in a calm, professional manner within a high pressure and rapidly evolving environment.
    • Able to work independently with impeccable judgment.
    • Skilled in various computer systems, internet technology and software (PC, Mac, MS Office, online research, etc.)
    • Second language is preferred.
    • A degree of legal or investigatory experience is a plus.
