    Trade Compliance Manager Europe - flexible location

    We are currently looking to recruit a Trade Compliance Manager, Europe to support our Pharma Services Group (PSG) division. This position is responsible for ensuring compliant import and export activities of certain PSG entities in the continent of Europe. This includes, without limitation, adherence to applicable EU, U.S. and other laws and regulations pertaining to international trade as well as ensuring compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate policies.

    In this critical role, you will interface with freight forwarders, national customs officers, custom brokers and customers on all matters pertaining to customs and import and export regulations.

    What will you do?
    • Work with the Group Trade Compliance, Senior Manager, Trade Compliance, PSG and the applicable sites to ensure that the sites’ trade compliance program are in line with the appropriate government regulations and Thermo Fisher Scientific’s trade compliance policies.
    • Ensure that the business has written, up-to-date work procedures to ensure compliance with EU, US and local import and export regulations and the corporate Import and Export Management Systems.
    • Monitor and or audit the export classification of each item that may be exported to verify that the classification is current and maintained in the GTC classification database.
    • Monitor and or audit current import classifications and country of origin information.
    • Ensure that each EU site has a screening program for Denied Person and Entities, restricted end-uses, and diversion.
    • Monitor internal processes which permit compliant participation in Free Trade Agreements (FTA).
    • Monitor and or audit AES submissions.
    • Assist with licenses applications as necessary.
    • Be subject matter expert (SME) for whether other Government agency requirements are applicable to product imports and exports (e.g. FCC, FDA, DDTC, etc.).
    • Liaise with other functions to facilitate compliance with pharma regulatory activities (eg for EMA, AIFA, FDA, MHRA) if needed.
    • Interact effectively with multiple functional areas at site or above-site level, including management, supply chain, distribution, engineering, finance, IT and legal.
    • Assist sites to audit their import entry filings
    • Participate in, develop and conduct training activities for individuals and groups pertaining to import and export regulations.
    • Evaluate all new Government agency requirements to ensure import and export compliance with changes and incorporation into day to day operations and standard operating procedures.
    • Ascertain that up to date profiles and SOPs are maintained by all EU sites and are provided to all endorsed service providers to ensure proper import and export clearance.
    • Ensure that required import and export documentation according to EU, US and local law and corporate policy is maintained.
    • Communicate with affiliated business units overseas to streamline export and import processes.
    • Ensure that a trained back-up is available for each site lead to assist with compliance functions.

    How will you get here?
    • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in import and export.
    • Experience in developing work procedures and written instructions.
    • Significant experience in import and/or export compliance including strong knowledge of EU regulations.
    • Ability to read and interpret government regulations.
    • Ability to interact with other departments and communicate at a higher level is critical.
    • Ability to implement new programs with little direction; previous project management experience would be beneficial
