assist academic advisors with the use of student progress reports
serve as a sparring partner in the team
host / run the FSE online accountability group (OAG)
act as trainer of webinar corresponding to the OAG
forming ideas to improve the OAG and webinar in the future
together with the project managers and the academic advisors develop ideas for additional student support within the FSE
together with the project managers write and improve communication to students and staff (emails, student portal information, website)
support academic advisors with the workshops they host at the FSE (act as a sparring partner for academic advisors, communication with participants, registrations, waiting list, location, act as moderator, occasionally act as co-trainer).

you have completed your Masters degree
you have ideas on training university students (preferably in STEM) on study skills, learning; strategies and / or other student related topics
you preferably have experience with conversation techniques and with individual coaching of students
you have experience in, or knowledge on, education support
you are good at and enjoy working with and interpret large data sets in Excel
experience in working with Progress.net is an asset
you are a team worker who can work independently and has good organizational skills
you are stress resistant and can easily switch between different tasks
you have good communication skills
you have an excellent command of the English language, spoken and written (CEFR C1).
The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is home to a wide variety of science disciplines. Research and education programmes range from nanomaterials and biomachines to astronomy, from mathematics to pharmacy, from neuroscience to computing science, and from molecular and evolutionary biology to marine biology.
Education support within FSE is provided by the School of Science and Engineering (SSE). The Early Warning Signals (EWS) team is a subteam of the Data team which is positioned within the Office of the SSE. It currently consists of two project managers and two team members. One of the project managers is education focussed and the other student support focussed. They oversee and coordinate the project and also perform day to day activities. The aim of our team is to optimize our academic advice, prevent early dropout, and improve the education at FSE through feedback to teachers. Because of maternity leave of one of our team members we are looking for a temporary employee who can cover for our team member during the leave.
Conditions of employment
We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:
on age, education and experience, a salary of a minimum of € 2,968 to a maximum of € 4,078 (salary scale 9) gross per month for a full time appointment
a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and an 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
a temporary position for a period of 5 months, from 1 January 2022 until 31 May 2022. The first two months will serve as a probationary period. The position is classified in UFO profile Administrative processes and Systems Officer 3.
