Thermo Scientific Production Chemicals and Services is an extension of our biopharmaceutical customers’ supply chain management team, offering customers a range of cGMP raw materials, large volume buffers & process liquids and supply chain services that can significantly improve our customer’s ability to manufacture life-changing therapeutics. Job Title: Technical Sales Specialist
Direct report to: Sr. Regional Sales Manager EMEA
Group/Division: Production Chemicals & Services- Bio Production Group (BPG)
Position Location: preferably BE-FR-DACH region, another location in South-West
The Technical Sales Specialist is responsible for sales and account management of our (bio)pharma customers in EMEA (Mainly in BeNeLux & DACH region). He/she contributes to develop new business for Production Chemicals & Services at existing and new customers. The open position reports to the Sr. Regional Sales Manager.
The primary functional objective of the position is direct contact with customers in close collaboration with Bioprocessing Account Managers, to initiate and develop relationships, create customer awareness and leads which will ultimately generate a sustainable opportunity pipeline, profitable sales & market share gain in the territory.
Manage and grow existing accounts by effectively communicating our value proposition which will result in the sales of process chemicals and associated chemical management services following cGMP standards.
Contribute to develop new business at new and existing accounts for process chemicals and or supply chain services to expand our footprint in the region
Build customer relationships that enhance our position in coordinating sales processes for assigned accounts in accordance with approved sales and marketing plans
Partner with Bioprocessing Account managers & suppliers and support to develop key strategic pipeline targets to aid business development.
Identify & develop new account targets along with identify new products, services, and vendors to expand product portfolio
Responsible for meeting standard work objectives and revenue goals for assigned territory, effectively communicate forecasting to internal organization
Routinely engage with cross functional teams within Thermo Fisher to drive & close business, communicate successes, failures, best practices, to improve the overall operating efficiency of the team, region and sales organization
Participate in product and systems training, marketing campaigns, special projects as presented by the Company to develop appropriate selling skills consistent with Company philosophy, policies, and procedures
Maintain and increase current customer database through Company customer relation’s management software. Experience in Salesforce is an asset.
Communicate account objectives and action plans to management via weekly interactive updates, monthly summary reports and other communication vehicles
Master’s Degree or equivalent by experience in appropriate specialty (preference for Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, (Chemical) Engineering or Life Sciences).
3+years of proven sales experience and opportunity closing experience. A good understanding of chemistry and/or bioprocessing to be able to serve as a resource for our clients and effectively present information to quality engineers, production managers and purchasing managers.
Demonstrated sustained sales success in territory and sustained success of pipeline management as well as the ability to shorten and improve the selling cycle.
Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain and grow customer relationships across multiple areas like Sourcing, Production, Research, Materials Management and Quality.
Proficient computer skills (including Microsoft Office –Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, CRM, and spreadsheet analysis). Experience with Sales Force is an asset.
Highly self-motivated individual who is results-driven, customer-focused and a team player able to work in cross-functional international teams.
Presentation skills to convey technical information to small and large groups.
Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing business environment
Willingness and availability to travel up to 40% in region to visit customers, supplier facilities, attend trade shows and internal meetings
English language skills: full professional proficiency in addition to another European language (German and/or French is an asset)
