The Strategy & Operations Manager - Supply shapes the Supply plan, by effectively identifying opportunities, defining underlying problems and delivering actionable recommendations on operational and strategic level. The role offers the opportunity to also deliver the results by monitoring and orchestrating product and commercial initiatives across departments. In that capacity you will have a high amount of autonomy and will work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders across many levels of the organization. Examples of projects could be Supply strategies per region, deep-dives into customer segments, active portfolio reviews of current initiatives & end-2end user flow audits. You will shape new product opportunities, impact measurement frameworks and feedback loops. Next to the stand alone projects & operations you are also involved in guidance and management of business operations (e.g., the budget cycle & reporting).
You would join the Accommodations Technology team, which is responsible for developing, maintaining and operating the platforms that enable our 214+ offices worldwide to communicate with our 29 million reported listings.
The Selection organization focuses on providing the best selection of accommodation options for every customer. We are committed to enable accommodation providers to attract and inspire our >100m active customers to stay with them. We do so by setting them up for success on our platform and help them optimise their performance on our platform, while we help customers to the best accommodation option for their trip.
Structure and develop operational and strategic initiatives by gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses, hypothesis creation and presenting final recommendations for decision making to drive short- and long-term growth of the business.
Own the impact and portfolio of Supply initiatives across the business through active portfolio review, opportunity and bottleneck identification and resolution.
Drives delivery of high quality reporting on KPIs and behavioural indicators to monitor performance and recommends strategies and tactics to achieve business goals
Work collaboratively with data science, product and commercial teams to drive Supply strategy execution, and align them around achieving the overall Accommodation business unit goals
Owns the rhythm of the business, incl. being the driving force in setting annual and quarterly strategy, objectives and KPIs with cross-functional teams and commercial/regional/product leadership.
Support and/or lead elements of the annual / quarterly strategic planning process
Assist with- and advise on operational improvements, including driving efficient and effective collaboration across different parts of the organisation
Types of analysis could be (but not limited to) Competitive market analysis; Impact measurement of initiatives across channels; cross-referencing quantitative and qualitative insights, end-2end audits of key user flows
Build problem-solving framework to break down and structure complex issues; synthesize analysis into actionable key insights, implications, and actions.
Masters degree in Business Economics or related field; strong business acumen.
5+ years work experience, including at least 2 years in a top-tier management consulting firm, complemented with 2 years of operational/commercial experience.
Proven track record of developing & executing strategies, including hypothesis development, portfolio management, strategic options identification & prioritisation, objective setting, defining success criteria, impact measurement and go-to-market optimisation.
Intrinsically curious and motivated to leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to solve real problems for real users. Strong focus on results.
Expertise in technology, ideally in travel, e-commerce, retail, and/or supplier facing products is highly desirable
Analytically skilled and mastering data handling, able to tell a clear story with insights and motivated recommendations.
Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and parts of the organization to “connect the dots” and to effectively drive ever-improving portfolio of supply initiatives.
Think holistically and be able to articulate longer term vision combined with pragmatic and actionable recommendations in a concise and persuasive manner
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, tailored to specific stakeholders.
Ability to take ownership, entrepreneurial, pro-active with a positive attitude, a self-starter that thrives in a fast paced environment.
Knowledge of SQL and other data gathering and analysis techniques & tools is a plus
An MBA or an equivalent graduate degree from a recognized institution is a plus
