Sr Manager Customs EMEA
Within the Supply Chain Management Logistics Supply Operations the Sr. Manager Customs EMEA is accountable to lead a team of customs professionals that is responsible for compliance in the supply chain within the EMEA jurisdiction. He/She is responsible to ensure compliance, and enabling a smooth and uninterrupted supply chain. This includes the compliance related support of ASML global supply chain partners for freight and warehousing (3PL’s).
The Manager Customs EMEA works closely with executive stakeholders of ASML’s business such as Customer Supply Chain Management, Sourcing, Legal, Tax, Trade and Export Control (TEC), Facility Management, Finance and the different ASML Factories. Executive stakeholders are typically at the level of Sr. Manager and up.
Also, the Sr. Customs Manager is responsible for outsourced customs operation activities with customs brokers. As such the Business Partner is expected to drive the regional broker strategy together with executive management from the customs broker which is typically at VP level and up. In addition, he/she will maintain contact with government agencies and build long lasting relationships. He/She has a signaling function towards policy makers at the ASML headquarters and can act as expert on EMEA laws and regulations.
The Sr. Customs Manager is responsible to give input to develop a SCM Customs strategy in the context of the business and corporate priorities with a high focus on her/his internal clients. He/She formulates policies, structures and processes together with the experts at the ASML Headquarter.
The Sr. Customs Manager drives business compliance for all customs related issues, innovates and liaises with members of local management on a tactical and strategic level internally, as well as externally in the area of customs compliance, efficiency and material availability.
The Sr. Customs Manager co-ordinates and manages staffing and progress of ASML projects where customs impact is required on a global level
The Sr. Customs Manager is regarded and recognized as an authority with respect to Trade & Customs and business knowledge outside his/her own discipline within ASML, as well as the outside world. In the functional area of customs, he/she acts as a people manager for the regional customs team, but also in a broader sense as a functional expert within ASML.
Responsible for executing the LSO Customs strategy, policies and structure in the EMEA jurisdiction while considering the targets and goals of the internal clients
Manage and drive compliance in EMEA jurisdictions and support internal clients and supply chain partners to ensure customs compliance
Creating visibility of customs issues, developing and delivering on agreed KPI’s for the Customs function, including oversight and management of customs brokers
Representing ASML in contact with relevant authorities, supply chain partners (suppliers), peers and interest group in the area of customs to support a compliant ASML supply chain
Define, Initiate and Lead programs to execute the customs strategy and policies. This includes actively reaching out to supply chain partners to assess and advice on managing customs in ASML’s supply chain
Liaise with ASML stakeholders to align on business opportunities, risks and other aspects relevant to execute the customs strategy and policies
Manage and lead the EMEA Customs team and our outsourced activities in a manner that fits the ASML culture in the different regions and supports our objectives for compliance, costs and lead-time.
Continuously scanning the internal and external environment by interaction with internal stakeholders, ASML Tax and Trade and external consulting network in order to evaluate the relevance of new practices, regulations and changes and exploit them as appropriate businesses served.
The Sr. Manager Customs EMEA has a master’s degree (international business and trade law, economics, accounting, MBA)
Has 10+ years of experience in an international environment in the area of trade & customs compliance and or Customs operations.
Set direction(Mission/Vision/Values) short and with long term perspective (3-5 years) for the EMEA customs department
Makes operational, tactical and strategic decisions with full accountability
Leads structural, cross sector improvements/projects with clear/visible link to ASML business priorities
The senior manager is regarded and recognized as an independent authority with respect to Customs within and outside his/hers own discipline within ASML as well as on the outside. In his/hers functional area of Customs he/she acts as a coach for his/hers team but also in a broader sense as a functional expert within ASML
