    Job Description

    In this position, you have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge on competitive intelligence and health economics to work on a broad scope of innovative topics within the Connected Care part of the Research portfolio of Philips, e.g. from high impact strategic projects, to white papers and research questions on the projects level. Your role will be to provide Research management and/or various project team members with a view on the outside world, i.e. competitors, market trends, clinical trends, and newly emerging technologies or services. Based on these insights, you will identify and assess opportunities to add value to healthcare, and become a sparring partner for different stakeholders at various levels of the Philips organization (e.g. in Research and the Businesses).

    Your responsibilities

    • Becoming a thought leader on competitive intelligence of the Connected Care part of Philips Research portfolio;

    • Identifying key challenges to address in healthcare (now and in the future), and creating an overview of those challenges and market trends, as well as promising new technological or service solutions in addressing these challenges;

    • Assessing new opportunities for innovative solutions within the Connected Care part of Philips Research portfolio – applying early health economics concepts to assess various opportunities (impact on clinical outcomes, patient/provider experience and healthcare costs);

    • Aggregating and interpreting the data from various information sources (e.g. scientific literature, market reports, industry news, expert opinions);

    • Presenting new ideas and insights to various (senior) stakeholders in the organization.

    The Competitive intelligence & early health economics group is a small team situated in Philips Research, on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. The team’s role is to support the identification and exploration of new growth areas for Philips with valuable insights. For more insights, you can visit:

    We are looking for

    An enthusiastic, dedicated colleague who is eager to learn, work with various stakeholders within the matrix organization, and would like to contribute both to Philips’ vision and to Healthcare. As Sr. Healthcare & Market scientist you will have to build a strong expertise in the Connected Care part of Philips Research portfolio, align with various entities in the organization (e.g. Business Units, Strategy), and find creative solutions to address a diverse set of research needs. We expect from potential candidates:

    • PhD in the area of healthcare technology, health economics, health sciences, digital health, or medical sciences, with at least 5 years of experience in working in the healthcare industry (i.e. a health-tech company, or a research organization focused on healthcare); or

    • MSc in the area of healthcare technology, health economics, health sciences, digital health, or medical sciences, with an outstanding, more than 7 years’ experience in working in the healthcare industry (i.e. a health-tech company, or a research organization focused on healthcare) and an experience in making competitive overviews;

    • Preferably a business background in Connected Care or Image Guide Therapy (IGT);

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

    • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with various partners (both internal and external to Philips);

    • Team worker in multidisciplinary and international settings, able to adapt and learn quickly.
