    SHE Specialist

    The Safety, Health & Environment Specialist plays a fundamental role in Ecolab’s Safety Department and reports directly to Plantmanager Varsseveld.

    This role will ensure the support of a strong safety culture and results throughout the assigned area of the business. This will include activities such as workplace safety, driver safety, associate safety and safety analytics. This position will collaborate with other support areas such as Human Resources, Training, Corporate SHE, RIE Risk Management, Sales, and Operations to drive safety success throughout the Pest Elimination division.

    The key areas of responsibility include:

    • Focus on proactive activities designed to protect human health and safety, protect the communities where we are located and control potential financial losses due to compliance and safety related problems.
    • Provide oversight of Worker Compensation, Auto, and General Liability Claims for the division.
    • Provide oversight of DOT Regulatory requirements for assigned function.
    • Analyze and leverage Safety and Risk KPI’s and metrics to focus on safety improvement within assigned areas. improvement.
    • Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors.
    • Apply appropriate tools to conduct formal Risk Assessments of processes and equipment and formulate proper controls to address risks identified.
    • Travel to Districts within assigned Region or business unit, up to 50% travel.
    • Work with internal clients to develop and facilitate the execution of Safety Improvement Plans.
    • Facilitate the Safety program for an assigned area of the business in accordance with the Corporate Safety Program and Policies.
    • Facilitate the sharing of procedures, tools and successfully demonstrated practices across the division and the broader organization.
    • Collaborate with business unit leaders to assure Ecolab’s Safety Culture and ethics are embedded in field operations while being responsive to customers’ needs
    • Perform incident investigations and assist field management in determining root cause and corrective actions.
    • Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures and provide recommendations to control the risks involved.
    • Work with internal clients to develop and facilitate the execution of Safety Improvement Plans.
    • Develop targeted safety programs, training, and communications as requested.
    • Assist in return to work activities with function business partners.
    • Deploy global SH&E processes.
    • Develop and manage safety champion network.
    • Facilitate execution of the Driver Safety Program
    • Develop ancillary materials for safety training and information
    • This position is located downtown St. Paul, MN at Ecolab’s international headquarters.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental health, occupational safety or a related field
    • 3-5 years of experience working in Health & Safety or related environment with experience in field (sales/service) employees.
    • Experience in strategic and tactical methodology regarding internal safety process and within accepted industry best practices.
    • Ability to successfully build collaborative working relationships, and influence across various levels in the organization
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven experience to influence and motivate.
    • Comfort delivering constructive feedback and maintaining compliance with Ecolab Policies & Procedures
    • Capability to drive results and work independently
    • Ability to effectively manage to multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate Safety Professional and/or Certified Safety Professional designation
