Booking.com’s global treasury team is looking for an experienced Treasury risk management professional.
The Senior Treasury Risk Specialist is responsible for identifying, quantifying and managing credit, counterparty, liquidity and market risks that attach to various evolving business models, strategic initiatives and third party relationships.
The position forms an integral part of the Treasury Risk team that is responsible to conduct a wide range of Treasury risk related analysis and reporting across various risk typologies. The risk team acts as an internal business partner focussing on the identification, management and communication of identified risks to help improve business decisions and business performance, risk mitigation and liquidity management.
Reporting to the Director of Treasury, the preferred candidate should be accustomed to working in a fast paced environment while working collaboratively across various internal functional teams.
The candidate is able to demonstrate a proven ability to quantify risk exposures from multiple data sources and is experienced in performing risk reviews and reporting, and driving operational efficiencies through the implementation of new technologies and system enhancements to support best in class risk management and reporting.
Characteristics of a successful candidate include strong analytical skills, and experience of adopting and implementing advanced analytics and risk modelling techniques as a means of making data driven recommendations to complex problems.
A successful candidate should possess excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to partner with stakeholders of various levels of seniority across the organisation, demonstrating strong business judgement skills while being able to think creatively and strategically.
Due to the continuous growth of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves.
Leverage available technologies to quantify risk exposures, perform credit and counterparty and liquidity analysis, build risk models for existing and new third party relationships and present findings and recommendations to applicable stakeholders;
Perform analysis to identify financial and liquidity risks relating to new product offerings;
Expand current risk measurement techniques used and build automated reporting on determined exposures, inclusive of scenario and sensitivity analysis;
Credit modelling skills and experience in the development, delivery and/or validation of credit risk models and ability to challenge model assumptions and methodologies;
Monitor financial, market and counterparty credit risks across various third party relationships;
Design and negotiate solutions in relation to complex financial issues finding an optimal balance between business requirements and risk mitigation;
Produce KPIs and high quality reports for senior management, steering committees and internal stakeholders;
Independently develop and maintain risk models and dashboards;
Seek to design and implement scalable processes & reporting mechanisms to effectively monitor risk exposures;
Ability to work with Big Data to quantify and analyze risk exposures, and ensuring these are appropriately managed;
Perform ad hoc analysis to support various business projects;
Continuously liaise with key stakeholders across the business to understand business priorities, and requirements and identify associated risks to support with business decisions;
Develop strong business relationships with key business partners.
A proven professional track record of at least 5+ years and relevant experience gained within a Treasury, Banking or related field;
Masters’ degree in a related field (Finance, Statistics, Economics, or a quantitative function)
Specific expertise in the measurement and management of counterparty credit risk techniques;
Demonstrated modeling skills for determining, evaluating and quantifying counterparty risk exposures - advanced Excel skills and financial modeling skills are necessary;
Proven experience in analyzing, building, and maintaining complex financial models
Solid/strong SQL is required. Knowledge of Python, R and/ or other statistical and advanced programming language is a big plus;
Experience with Tableau is a plus
Ability to work autonomous on data querying and analysis with experience working with Data teams;
Ability to identify required data sources, extract insightful information and visualize real data as a means of identifying business problems;
Broad knowledge of micro and macroeconomic factors, with the ability to translate these into risk-based decisions;
Problem solving ability aligned with high attention to detail;
Excellent analytical, organisational and project management skills
Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision;
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet required deadlines while managing competing priorities and working within a faced paced environment;
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English and ability to effectively convey difficult or complex information in an easy to understand manner while adapting style and approach based on the seniority of applicable stakeholders
