    Senior Software Engineer, Mobile Apps - Android, Group Digital

    To be successful as a Senior Software Engineer, you have advanced training in computer science or similar experience, keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise. You have experience leading tasks or teams to ensure well-architected and scalable solutions are delivered according to business requirements and in a timely manner. In addition, you have demonstrable experience working in an Agile and DevOps working set-up.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a Senior Software Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

    • being responsible for the development of high-quality software code which has been tested and is ready to be shipped
    • working in agile teams across capability areas, contributing to the development and maintenance of products and solutions
    • applying and adhering to good practice software engineering practices (e.g. DRY principles, TDD and BDD, continuous integration, automated tests, pair programming, code reviews) within an agile/iterative development approach
    • recognizing when to provide support and guidance to other engineers within the team, encouraging good practices on both the technical and non-technical aspects of working as an empowered team
    • contributing to the continuous development of standards against which software development should take place, as well as exploring and introducing new technologies to boost innovation and development productivity
    • taking a lead on working closely with other software engineers and cross functions to produce required design specifications and ensuring that digital solutions work together to fulfil business needs

    At Group Digital, we set the digital agenda to keep IKEA leading in an uncertain and fast-moving environment. We drive the development, provision and operation of our digital products and services through the use of new and existing technology and agile delivery methods to deliver at pace. At the same time, we provide a home for digital skills to both develop and extend the technical, people and business skills needed to ensure continuous development and growth of our digital capability.

    In this team we are responsible for developing the highly-rated IKEA app which has millions of visits every week from users all over the world. We continue to rollout to more markets across the globe, as well as implementing features that support our customers in-store. We strive to improve the customer shopping journey, investigating how we can incorporate the latest innovative technologies. We listen to and respond to customer feedback and analytics, prioritising our efforts with our users in mind, being adaptable and changing direction where necessary. We are looking for engineers passionate about mobile technologies, native development (Kotlin for Android) and creating great user experiences!
