As a Senior Research Investigator at IFF you will join the Tilburg Analytical Services R&D group, focused on delivering high quality analytical solutions and results to support IFF R&D projects and commercial initiatives. In this position, you are member of our global team conducting cutting-edge analytical chemistry research for taste and scent technologies to drive continued business growth at IFF.
In this position, you will lead, plan and execute complex technical work in the area of analytical chemistry research. You will be translating IFF R&D and product development needs into new analytical methodologies by working closely with colleagues around the world. All under guidance from senior technical management.
Daily activities include execution of laboratory bench experiments as well as bringing and developing new analytical technologies, methods and conceptual approaches to R&D. Project planning, communication and collaboration with stakeholders, and timely reporting of accurate results are also critical to succeed in this position.
Being at the forefront of development of taste and scent ingredients requires a deep understanding of relevant, state-of-the art analytical tools and methods. You should therefore enjoy monitoring developments in these areas closely, and pro-actively exploring and pursuing new and alternative technical approaches. These can be both internally or externally oriented, and should include the automation of workflows, as well as data collection and analysis.
This position is for a senior research investigator with significant proven skills and interests in bench-level technical work and requires in depth practical and conceptual understanding of key analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, chromatography and lab automation.
You will report to the Team leader Tilburg Analytical Services R&D.
Conduct laboratory bench analytical research as required using chromatography and mass spectrometry-based techniques including sample preparation, data acquisition, data interpretation and data reporting;
Development and deployment of analytical approaches and project plans;
Lead cross-functional projects of moderate size and scope;
Development and integration of relevant automated workflows and data management;
(Time-) management of assigned tasks;
Routinely provides expert technical consultation to IFF colleagues and customers alike.
The successful candidate will have:
MS degree with 5+ years / PhD with 2+ years of appropriate experience;
Demonstrated expertise in chromatography and mass spectrometry;
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing new analytical approaches;
Ability to lead technical project areas;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Fluent in English language.
Fluent in Dutch language;
Experience in the flavor, fragrance, food, consumer products industry;
Demonstrated expertise in automated workflows for sample preparation/data handling;
Demonstrated ability to work with remote colleagues and customers.
