    Senior Machine Learning Expert

ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of semiconductor-chip-making equipment. A majority of the world’s microchips receive their critical lithographic patterning in machines made by ASML.
In ASML’s Research department, innovativeapproaches for sensor data processing and parameter inference are being developed within the framework of Machine Learning. For the Data Science Research team we are looking for aSenior Machine LearningExpert.

    Job Mission

We expect our new colleague to execute high-level research with application to supervised machine-learning (ML) for parameter inference from sensor signals.

    Job Description

High-precision sensors are a key component of ASML systems, both as integral part ofLithography systems (to align wafers, create level-maps etc.), but also as stand-alone systems, measuring the quality and position of patterns made with Lithography and other processing steps. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is one of the technologies used.

This research position is directed towards Machine Learning for sensor signal processing of multi-beam SEM systems: these systems generate massive amounts of data, which must be processed fast, cost -effective and with nanometer-level accuracy. The research will be carried out within a multi-disciplinaryproject-team.

PhD / Post-Doctoral Researcher in Machine Learning with a strong affinity for physics and computational modeling ( preferably)

or PhD/Post-Doctoral Researcher in i.e. Physics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering with proven experience in Machine Learning.

You are an enthusiastic Researcher withfew years of experience in application of machine learning for parameter inference, preferably in the area of sensor signal processing. Your background in physics, mathematics, etc. helps you to grasp the underlaying physical concepts which helps you to find new, efficient approaches.

    Personal skills

We are looking for a person with the following skill-set:

    • Solution-oriented and innovative mind-set
    • Team-player
    • Commitment to team and company
    • High personal ambition and drive
    • Drive to deliver excellent performance
    • Self-propelling, independent thinker.
    • Communication skills for communication at various levels in the organization
    • Willingness to travel

    Context of the position

This project will be carried out at ASML-Research. The project is further part of an intensive collaboration with other departments within the ASML organization, both in Veldhoven, Delft as well as in the United States. You will interact with your peers and experts from other disciplines, and build relations with relevant academic research institutes.

    Other information

Research, Machine Learning, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), High Performance Computing (HPC), Neural Networks, surrogate models, Semiconductors, Lithography.
