Working as a Senior Java Developer within IT systems, participating in the team with an aim to deliver new applications targeted to improve overall experience of the wholesale client journey. You are an experienced Developer and Java has no secrets for you. Seeing the whole of an application in your mind’s eye is normal for you. You work in a DevOps team and represent the driving force inside the team in producing solid, yet flexible, solutions for our users. Whether it’s on premise, or in the Cloud, you know your way around our code. You understand the problem to be solved by understanding the user requirements, and how to implement these. You look for ways to solve problems, but can also say ‘no’ when needed.

As a Java Developer within the Client cluster you participate in a team with the aim to develop new applications or improve existing applications within the Wholesale Client architecture.
The Wholesale & International domain within IT Systems supports the wholesale bank across the globe. The Wholesale Client cluster delivers and supports global business systems, including process automation in the areas of CRM, Client Onboarding, Client Data Management, Document- and Case Management. The Client cluster has a global responsibility for servicing more than 20+ locations divided over multiple regions. The delivery unit is working closely with strategic programs within other domains to realize the bank’s digital transformation.

As a Java Developer you have an eye for team dynamics and help the team to grow in its development. Much communication will be in English as the end-users, DevOps team, and other stakeholders reside on different locations across the globe. Speaking Dutch is also a requirement. Travelling can be part of your job (Corona situation permitting).

Your primary working areas are system, data and process improvements in the Client cluster.
If required you will create and maintain application code in Java.
You will be responsible for implementing SOAP services, Java programs, and also for the production of smart data matching and filtering algorithms.
You define systems and project scope/objectives through research, fact finding and elicitation with a solid understanding of business, data, processes, systems, and requirements.
You translate complex business requirements into IT solutions.
You can produce robust code in the cloud, or on premise.
You have experience with the Azure DevOps pipeline and other Azure functions.
You are responsible for understanding the requirements documentation and can assist in developing and deploying the solution.
You are part of a DevOps team with autonomy, you proactively participate in team decisions and challenge your team members on presented solutions and decisions.
HBO/WO level, preferably in Computer Science or with comparable technical background.
At least 8 years of experience in Java Development, preferably Java 8.
At least 3 years of experience in implementing complex systems in large corporate environments in the role as Software Engineer.
Hands on experience with Spring, Hibernate, JDBC, Oracle DB, Linux, WebSphere, SOAP, Rest webservices.
Must be able to write advanced SQL queries/ stored procedures.
Experience with Agile/Scrum development (must).
Experience in working in an international environment (pre).
Experience in working in an offshore delivery model (pre).
Must be fluent (spoken and written) in English.
Pre if fluent in Dutch.
