    Senior BI Developer

    About us

    We are ParkBee, we develop smart tech to reduce the need for on-street parking. We are on a mission to give space back to the city. With our mobility management solutions we optimise the use of underutilised parking spaces and get cars off the streets. We partner up with third party applications such as Parkmobile, Park-line and RingGo to improve our services even more. We have offices in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, and are now ready to conquer the rest of Europe. Join us and play a huge role in our fast growing business!

    The job
    As a data-driven company, ParkBee gathers all kinds of data, from different sources – be it live traffic and parking data, financial transactions, customer support enquiries, technical monitoring, or simply detailed information on our various products and their usage. The Senior BI Developer is the primary person responsible for planning, maintaining, and improving the internal BI system upon which relevant information and key metrics will be shared with the rest of the company. This consists of both the main BI system, currently built on Looker, and the development of additional custom data tools when necessary.
    In this role, you will work with a data engineer and guide one or two of our data analysts, to maintain and improve this system and encourage the spread of a data-driven attitude throughout the company. You have the full authority to make changes to our systems, introduce new tools, run workshops, and so on, as you see fit. Some of the responsibilities you have:
    Reviewing data as it’s collected by our data engineer;
    Plan out and manage all data structures, transformations, and connections between this data in our BI system;
    Ensure the integrity and accuracy of this data;
    Help analyse, develop, and track business metrics based on this data;
    Creation and curation of key dashboards;
    Generating hypotheses for business improvement opportunities, validating this with data and facts.

    Who you are
    You are comfortable with a multitude of different kinds of data and different ways of gathering, presenting, and combining data. You are comfortable working in scripting languages. You will need to be aware of some of the coding best practices, so you can develop the backend of our BI system in a maintainable and scalable way. On top of that, you’ll need excellent organisational abilities to align with requirements from different teams, fully plan the system, support our Data Analysts, and work directly with users. This, in order to ensure that the entire company is receiving the data in the relevant format that they need, in ways that can really help boost their workflows. You have good data communications skills. At the end of the day, you’re someone who can feel rewarded that the data and information you share keeps the company grounded in reality, and responding to it in real-time.

    Have an additional 5+ years of “business intelligence” or “business analytics” experience in a commercial or practical environment;
    Have excellent knowledge of SQL and experience with developing BI systems with the Looker platform and LookML, or with similar platforms (Tableau, PowerBI). On top of that, you have the ability to learn new scripting languages quickly;
    Have experience working with data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists, in a modern product-driven & data-driven company. Ideally you also have leadership experience with managing/mentoring coworkers;
    Have some basic or initial experiences with general purpose development tools such as; Python, Git, Docker, HTML/CSS/JS, or tools such as R Shiny / Streamlit / Jupyter.

    What you’ll get in return
    Besides the fact that you would be given the opportunity to make a huge impact on the use of mobility in cities, we would also offer you a platform for growth! ParkBee readily encourages you to tweak, hack, and break on our Innovation Fridays . Meaning you would have the opportunity to be innovative every Friday and show us potential areas we can grow in! Our philosophy is to invest in our developers and they help ParkBee develop in return. Furthermore:
    An allocated personal development budget which you can use to follow courses or go to conferences.
    Visa support in case you’re international.
    Virtual shares for full-time employees.
    An inspiring office in the lovely city of Amsterdam, sharing with top scale-ups such as Uber, Amazon, and Ebay.
    A competitive salary range based on profession and experience.

    Sounds good? Don’t hesitate to apply! Send your resume and motivation letter and we will get back to you as soon as possible : ).
