The Accommodation business unit represents the largest share of Booking.com’s business today. Our goal is to serve and retain customers in the best possible way across multiple product verticals. As we transition from a transactional view of the world to a customer-focused approach, the Engagement organization plays a critical role in this goal. Engagement’s mission is to ensure an experience built around trust, ease of use and personalization that drives the best match for our customers across core elements of their journey from searching for an accommodation to completing their booking – search, match, book and stay. Our core experience has evolved over the years, and we foresee a lot of opportunity to develop it further.
This role sits within the Engagement organisation of the Accommodation business unit - (Connected Stay team).
The Connected Stay pillar understands that our relationship with guests and partners should not end once a booking is made - we aim to make sure every guest and partner has a great end-to-end experience with Booking.com, even during the stay itself.
The team is currently focused on delivering an Online Check-in solution that benefits guests, partners, and Booking.com. This solution allows the guest to provide the check-in information prior to their visit to the property, reducing the time and effort needed at the reception desk filling in forms
Combine hands on coding with working on impactful project(s) and supporting other team members,
Solve business problems, work cross-functionally and lead initiatives to improve our development process and business opportunities within Booking.com,
Take initiative to address the larger technical needs of the product you work on and always keep the customer at the center of everything you do,
Contribute to the growth of Booking.com through recruitment efforts and proactively share your knowledge to help your colleagues grow,
Represent Booking.com values, both within the company and in the external community,
Advocate for a collaborative working environment – turn “my ideas” into “our ideas”
You are a humble and thought leader, you lead by example and gain your teammates respect through your actions and not your title,
You have strong programming skills and experience with 2+ server-side programming languages,
You have min 10+ years of experience as a Software Developer, you’ve worked with web applications, distributed systems and product(s) that impact millions of customers,
You have a solid understanding of Service Oriented Architecture, Microservices & OOP patterns — and you mastered explaining these concepts to others,
Having experience with Java, Kubernetes, Kafka, GraphQL is a plus,
You own your systems end-to-end and are comfortable performing incident management,
You are an excellent communicator and you are able to influence and cooperate with people at all levels,
You have driven successful technical, business and people related initiatives that improved productivity, performance and quality,
You have a ‘can do’ attitude and you act proactively and not reactively,
It would be great if you have prior experience with mentoring, coaching and training team members.
