Scientific programmer 'Machine learning tools for neuroimaging data'
1 year We are looking for a scientific programmer to work on a project focusing on the development and application of advanced statistical and machine learning methods for the analysis of clinical neuroimaging data. Will you join our team?
Tasks and responsibilities
Develop a web-based software interface for existing python-based software tools.
Develop generic tools to handle transfer of large data files to and from Donders servers.
Write clear documentation for developed tools.
Package and distribute software using industry standard tools (e.g. shell scripts, PyPI, container images).
The project is hosted by the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior at the Radboud university medical center (Cognitive Neuroscience department) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Andre Marquand, interfacing strongly with the Technical Group, led by Erik van den Boogert and integrated into the wider academic research environment at the Donders Institute. The position is for 12 months, and should begin in 2021 or early 2022.
In addition to your monthly salary and an annual vacation allowance of 8%, you will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
If you work irregular hours, you will receive an allowance.
As a full-time employee (36 hours per week), you are entitled to approximately 168 vacation hours (over 23 days) per year.
Radboud university medical center pays 70% of the pension premium. You pay the rest of the premium with your gross salary.

The project is embedded in a highly interdisciplinary research environment, therefore good communication skills with other team members with varying skill is essential. You are able to work effectively in this interdisciplinary team. A keen interest in cognitive or clinical neuroscience and in clinical applications of machine learning is desirable but not essential.
In addition you possess the profile below.
A bachelors-level degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, engineering, machine learning or other relevant field of study.
Experience with the Linux operating system and running application services with container technology (such as Docker or Kubernetes).
Experience with software version control and code repositories.
Experience with neuroimaging data analysis techniques, software tools (e.g. FSL, FreeSurfer, SPM) and/or imaging formats (DICOM, NIFTI) is desirable, but not essential.
