Vattenfall is one of Europe’s largest electricity generators and producers of heat. We operate in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map aiming at achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
We are now looking for one candidate for our SCADA project department, which is responsible for project related Network specifications, design, and implementation within our wind farm projects. Furthermore, we control the integration into the overall Vattenfall backend in cooperation with our colleagues in SCADA operations and applications.
The department is part of Business Area Wind, which is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind Farms as well as other non-hydro renewable activities. Today, we develop, construct and operate wind generation in UK, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. We are currently 10 employees and 6 fulltime consultants in the SCADA Project department. We have a mix of PM´s Scada Engineers and Network engineers. This position will be the 3rd network engineer in the team of very skilled people, so you will always have good teammates around you for help.
Your responsibilities as a SCADA Project Network Engineer:
In cooperation with your colleagues, you will be part of project design, specification, configuration, evaluation and execution of the project until handover to operation within the fields of SCADA network systems, focusing on the Vattenfall network for substation control system and automation systems on substations, auxiliary systems and turbine control systems. Your responsibility in the projects will also include:
handle project-related technical network communication with subcontractors during construction and ensure installation and configuration of network equipment, integration of data and clarifications regarding remote access from centralized data centers.
definition and fulfilment of technical specification with focus on network and IT security rules in accordance with Vattenfall standard policies.
project specific design based on predefined standard solutions for all parties of the wind farm network, ranging from the physical layout over layer 2 and layer 3 to network security including line of sight and WIFI solutions.
full project as-built documentation for the network setup.
participate in FAT, SAT commissioning and subsequent handover to O&M.
support the operation team and management within the projects with your specialist knowledge.
Your qualifications as a SCADA Project Network Engineer:
You have a proven track record within designing and configuring network with Cisco equipment. Your education is preferably within the area of IT/OT, Electrical and Automation. But what matters the most is what you know, and not the title of the education. You have minimum 3 years’ experience with network engineering from similar industry, preferably within the energy sector.
In addition, you need to have experience in the following areas:
Being on CCNP level for practical work within routing and switching – certification is not mandatory.
Network security solutions, Cisco and Check Point based.
Troubleshooting multicast and unicast routing.
Knowledge of industrial networking (ex. Hirschmann, Cisco IE, RuggedCom).
Knowledge of Voice over IP and line of sight communication.
Designing enterprise networks.
Building physical network infrastructure.
The following qualifications are not considered as mandatory, but are desirable and certainly an advantage:
Experience with SCADA related protocols like OPC, IEC60870, IEC60870-5-104, Modbus.
Experience in working within ITIL framework.
Experience with operating systems Windows & Linux.
Experience with VMWare clusters, using vSphere.
