Qualcomm BU RFFE enables the delivery of RF front-end modules in fully integrated systems for mobile devices and fast growing business segments, such as IoT, drones, robotics, automotive applications and more.

    This position is located within Qualcomm's RF Front-End (RFFE) Engineering Department. The position offers the opportunity to characterize, validate and verify the performance of RF Front-End Modules to ensure design success. The Characterization Manager is responsible for analyzing the performance of the product under development and provide feedback to the design team. This responsibility also extends to innovating RF/Analog Characterization techniques for complex products. Qualcomm solutions include highly customized LNAs, PAs, FEMs, antenna tuner and multi-throw switches in standalone and module packages for 4G and 5G wireless cell phone and ultra-mobile devices. The RF Characterization Manager will deliver Front-End Module designs in a fast-paced team environment and is required to work closely with RF IC/Modules design engineers to optimize a design by extensive data collecting, analyzing the data and optimizing the product based on RF system knowledge.

    Tasks

    • Develop Characterization Test Plans to report the performance of RFFE products in a highly automated RF test set-up

    • Ensure that Software and Lab equipment is up to date and calibrated, this includes capex planning and roll out of new setups in line with company strategy. When needed special setups need to be developed within the local team

    • Summarize and create performance reports: Characterization Report includes all the parametric data from RFFE such as Rx path NF, noise circles, IP2/IM2, IP3/IM3, Gain modes, S-parameters of Rx path components, as well as Tx path PAE, Gain, ACLR, power sweep, Rx Band Noise, Spectrum Emission Mask, s-par, x-par, Load-pull, Out-of-band rejection, frequency sweep, etc. Collect and evaluate data to verify performance over temperature, voltage, and sample variation

    • Work with design team to maintain, optimize, and release digital register setting for overall optimized product performances.

    • Design and develop engineering evaluation test boards for RFFE products

    • Manage a team of characterization design engineers (people management)

    Minimum Qualifications

    A minimum of 8 years of professional experience with the following skills:

    • Testing for RF products

    • Understanding of RF circuitry and 3GPP wireless standards

    • PCB design/debug skills

    • Familiar with Lab equipment, including: Spectrum analyzers, Network analyzers, digitizing oscilloscopes, signal generators, DMMs, and programmable power supplies.

    • Data analysis tools; SW knowledge: Perl, C# or Labview

    • Proven people management skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    Wireless communications experience, leadership skills
