About the role
The role of 3D Design Manager will sit within our Retail CoE EMEA Team, and will work closely with our EMEA markets, UK-based Central Retail Function and Regional Creative Team.
Central to this role is the ability to understand, and strike a balance between, local market desires and our global creative vision. As the 3D brand guardian for retail in EMEA, you will be tasked with ensuring that our retail spaces deliver against our global guidelines and identity. The role will be responsible for 3D Design (with consideration for 2D creative assets) of our retail spaces. In this capacity, the focus will be predominantly on our wholesale channels but will speak to our direct and digital channels as we focus on more being channel agnostic. Key areas will include the application of our fixture systems to specific retail locations in the region, new product launches in those spaces and overall 3D shopper journey collateral.
On top of asset creation and adaptation, you will own and refine the 3D ways of working process, driving efficiency at market level, sharing best practice cross-market and at a head office level. Furthermore, you will represent the markets in the concept design phases of various projects, led by a UK-based Design Team.
Within the Retail CoE EMEA you will work closely with our Production and Rollout function and will report into the Head of Retail CoE EMEA. In addition, you will be guided by our Global Creative Director for CoE, based in the UK. Close collaboration with Teams such as Go-to-Market, Retail Marketing and Concept Design is also part of the day-to-day. Role and Responsibilities:
Lead, consult and have visibility of all 3D design across the EMEA region in 3rd party retail. Work with the Retail Centre of Excellence Creative Director and the senior retail team to
ensure that fixtures incorporate the latest instore design thinking.
Be a source of innovation and inspiration to shape future design thinking.
Ensure that all work is aligned to the Dyson visual identity guidelines. Enforce stringent Dyson design standards and govern the movement of assets from the Central Retail Function through the Retail CoE, into markets and ultimately into Retailers.
Input on the creation, development and adaptation of Central Retail Function generated retail assets to ensure regional / market relevance. Provide conceptual thinking whilst delivering commercially viable solutions.
Define / refine a 3D ways of working process focussing on the internal and external information flow. Think briefs, efficient amends, version control etc.
Be the design eyes and ears of the EMEA region to brief market relevant requests into the Central Retail Function; where possible, conduct market visits to understand retailer and competitor landscapes. Impose yourself upstream to ensure that centrally generated assets deliver for the EMEA region.
Maintain and update resource and status reports to ensure effective project management and upward reporting.
Share best practice and feedback to Central Retail Function as well as markets. Be comfortable with presenting work at all levels.
Manage tight deadlines and prioritise workload.
+5 years retail design experience.
Experienced user of 3D CAD software; 3DS Max essential, Vectorworks or Cinema 4D a plus.
Experienced user of Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
A hands on experience of retail development and production with an ability to communicate with vendors and review prototypes, samples and production.
Experience with design mock-ups to communicate with a range of stakeholders.
Retail experience and an appreciation of the needs behind an effective customer journey.
Demonstrable experience managing / refining a way of working process for movement of assets between key stakeholders.
Experience with creating and enforcing guidelines.
Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects under pressure and to tight timelines.
Appreciation of 2D creative design.
Architectural grounding is desirable.
