Achieving the 2050 European energy and climate targets for renewable energy for renewable energy requires a multi-energy approach to energy generation and conversion to unlock the full potential of intermittent renewable energy sources. Energy storage (i.e. storage of electricity, heat and gas such as hydrogen) is indispensable for creating flexibility, allowing to optimize the balance between the energy demand and supply profiles. The Energy Conversion & Storage team is active in developing these technologies and is currently looking to expand with a research assistant.
