Based on needs and trends analyses in the energy landscape, the research leader will bear ultimate responsibility for developing the multi-disciplinary research programme for the Energy Technology unit with a valorisation prospect of minimum 5 years. The research leader is also responsible for searching for cross-unit/cross-EnergyVille links, so as to grow new research programmes from there too. All of this will be based on a good scientific insight into the various energy domains, always searching for innovative combinations.
Responsibilities of the research leader:
Based on trend analyses and a good scientific insight, you will pose the right research questions (in terms of energy) that are needed to help take the industry forward in the future.
The ETE unit's multi-disciplinary research programme will be drawn up and managed on the basis of these research questions, in close collaboration with the domain managers (who manage the various knowledge domains in the unit) and activity leaders (responsible for developing the product roadmaps).
You will be responsible for the international excellence of the various domains. Part of this will involve ensuring that the better PhD and post-doctoral students find their way to the unit, as well as achieving the necessary SCIs with a sufficiently high impact factor.
You will manage the relationships with the universities and other research institutions and attempt to cluster across the domains.
You will build up a strong international scientific network that can also be used to set up the right consortia as part of co-financed projects
You will disseminate the research programme's vision internationally and will be ETE's “thought leader”.
Research leader tasks:
To develop a vision and define/discuss research questions based on a thorough and state-of-the-art overview
To produce a widespread research programme, in consultation with activity leaders and domain managers
To consult with the management team to turn the research programme into a strategic plan
To optimise scientific excellence in the domains and draw up / manage a strategic plan for this
To seek out / define cross-links and adopt these in the research programme at various different levels:
