Offshore Wind Development Netherlands
RWE is looking for a Project Director within the Offshore Wind Project Development Team.
At RWE you will work for a global leader in Offshore wind and have the opportunity to work globally. You will have a dynamic job where relationships building, hands-on decision making and progression will be an integral part of your daily work. In the role as Project Director, you will lead your team to the successful delivery of your project’s agreed objectives. The project will be complex and multi-faceted. And your team will be located both locally and within the global functions for technical and commercial expertise. In the role you will form relationships with external stakeholders including suppliers, partners and governmental authorities. You will be responsible for the development of your project from an early stage until the construction investment decision.
The Project Development team will be your home team comprising all global Project Directors. You will be assigned to lead one or more project teams within our matrix organisation, responding to the company’s growth pipeline. The role is a key member of the project’s Senior Management Team and includes external representation and international travel. You will apply your commercial as well as technical expertise, plus harness the expertise of the project team and the global functions.
This is an exciting role within RWE and the successful applicant will be a key member of a team with ambitious growth targets. We are offering you, a self-confident and independent project manager the possibility to leverage your existing skill-sets to further enhance the capabilities of RWE Renewables in the highly competitive area of offshore wind.
Your main location will be at our office in Zwolle or Amsterdam with flexibility to work from home. You report functionally to the Regional Head of the Central Europe.
Be responsible for the health and safety of the project, for enforcing the principles and conditions RWE policies and seeking at all times to ensure a safe environment for the project’s staff and third-party individuals including the general public
Lead and coordinate the origination and development of Offshore projects until a successful final investment decision;
Be responsible for all project management matters including project resourcing, schedule and budget follow-up in accordance with the project programme;
Understand and optimise the business case together with your team;
Represent RWE Renewables on Offshore related topics at local and regional stakeholder events, in networks and towards respective authorities;
Manage project activity to build and maintain a stable and effective project team with links into the organisation;
Ensure that the project activities during the development and pre-construction phases meet the project requirements and constraints;
Provide commercial/business advice, direction and instruction to the project to ensure RWE’s value is maximised. For example, which sites balance the lowest LCOE with acceptable risk profiles from a buildability perspective
Experience & Skills
Proven experience of managing and driving delivery of large scale €multi-million infrastructure projects;
Extensive knowledge of wind energy and especially Offshore Wind Development;
As your initial role will be on a Danish project, knowledge of the Danish development process up to a Financial Investment Decision including an understanding of the Danish Contract for Difference regime and its implications on project development and also the Danish framework for grid connection;
Experience of leading a complex, multi-disciplinary team;
Strong analytical skill, self-motivated, structured and proactive working approach;
Strong ability to manage own performance, with a significant focus on delivery and an ability to balance a varied and challenging workload, whilst producing high quality results in demanding timeframes to balance a varied and challenging workload, whilst producing high quality results in demanding timeframes;
Strong self-performance management and delivery focus with the ability to balance conflicting requirements on quality, costs and time;
Ability to value decisions between risk versus return to find the optimal way forward

Proven ability to persuade, challenge and build credibility at all levels and across functions of the business;
Ability to be proactive and take responsibility for a wide range of matters, while responding to business demands;
Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly for leading/participating in virtual teams drawn from across different functions;
Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business or equivalent;
Proven and solid background in a related commercial environment
Business level proficiency in Dutch and English is a requirement, other language skills are an advantage;
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint);
