    Product Owner - Automation

    Why do we need you?

    We are looking for someone that has passion for and is experienced in digital product development to help us realize our growth ambitions for the coming years.

    Over the past two years we have built a digital platform that supports and delivers our trainings through our own mobile app, and with integrations into tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams.

    Right now, we are gearing up for another growth spurt. In the next couple of years we will roll out to numerous new countries and plan to serve even more clients and learners. To do that we need to make sure that our platform and apps become even better, while we also make sure we can keep delivering this experience as more and more learners use our platform.

    This year a major focus will be making the platform more scalable, by automating our processes (e.g., the delivery of a training, create self-service tooling for our clients) and providing our internal teams the right tooling (e.g., content management and digital asset management systems)

    To do this, we are setting up a newly created Automation squad (development team) and we are looking for a Product Owner to head this squad.


    Your role

    You will be end-to-end responsible for the automation theme within our roadmap. You will report directly to the CPO but on a day-to-day basis you will be embedded in our newly created Automation squad. There you will represent the voice of the customer and work closely together with the different disciplines to build and realize the roadmap initiatives. Together with product owners of the other squads and the CPO you adjust the overall roadmap as needed

    Our squads run in an agile environment using the scrum methodology.

    On a day-to-day basis, you take roadmap initiatives and turn them into epics and user stories. The user stories you write are extremely clear so that the developers know exactly what needs to be done. Next to that because there are always more ideas than development time, you need to be extremely adept at prioritizing: weighing business gain against development effort. Where needed you back this up with quick analyses, research or small business cases. You can communicate these findings clearly and concisely to stakeholders.

    We are looking for someone who is strong in analyzing business processes, and not afraid of also challenging existing processes; where it makes more sense to adjust a process instead of just automating what we have today. You have the technical background to understand the implications and trade-offs that need to be made when automating these processes.


    Specifically, what would we expect you to deliver over the next 6-12 months?

    • 80% of our delivery process is automated and the costs per training are reduced by 50%;
    • We have implemented a content management system (CMS) and digital asset management system;
    • Together with the team you have consistently increased the velocity of the squad;
    • Users (internal and external) rate the tools that you and the team have created positively (NPS > 20);

    In an ideal world, who would you be?

    • You have hands-on experience as a product owner, and you like building new (digital) products and to be innovative in what you create;
    • You’re data driven, you value facts backed up by actual data over opinions;
    • You have a great business sense, you understand what users need and can translate this into clear requirements;
    • You also understand the technical challenges that come with automation and can constructively collaborate with developers to come up with the right solution;
    • You know all the ins and outs of scrum and can also teach these to others;
    • You are independent in structuring, planning and executing your work;
    • You like to work in fast-paced and high-performing work environments;

    We value capabilities over formal experience, yet what would we love to see on your resume?

    • 4+ years of relevant work experience as a product owner, experience with creating back office tooling and/or implementing a CMS/DAM is a definite plus;
    • Proven record in digital product development;
    • Affinity with agile and scrum methodologies;
    • You hold a Master degree;
    • Knowledge of coding, IT architecture and/or software architecture is a plus;
    • For this role we require a valid EU working visa;
