Product Manager II
About the Role
Imagine being one of our 2000+ BPO agents across the world trying to process hundreds of documents a day with pressure to go as fast as you can while making no errors. Processing a document means checking its image quality, looking for signs of fraud, transcribing all the necessary fields, and then deciding whether the document passes all the requirements to be approved or not (or else rejecting it with the right rejection reason). Many of these processes are actually less accurate in today's work with pure automation, which is why we must rely on humans.
The Decision Portal team is part of the Driver org and will be responsible for innovating on our agent-facing tooling to design the optimal experience for accurate and efficient processing of documents, background checks and other artefacts. Today, no such internal tooling exists for adjudicating background checks - something you'll have the opportunity to design from the ground up.
Accurate processing of documents and background checks are key to keeping Uber a safe and trustworthy platform. Efficient processing is key to ensuring we're meeting our target SLA's and getting Earners out on the road as fast as possible without incurring too much cost for processing. Join this team to help impact multiple priorities for Uber including win in mobility, invest in earner's success, and stand for safety.
Safety is a key priority for Uber and that begins with ensuring only Earners that adhere to external regulations and internal standards are given access to the platform. In order to thoroughly screen and verify the identity of potential Earners, we must rely on manual processing and validation of these users' background checks and documents by human agents.
As a Product Manager on this team, you will be challenged to invent solutions to create the best in class agent-facing products for accurately and efficiently processing millions of documents and other artifacts each month. The platform must scale to support thousands of different types of documents and artifacts from all kinds of users across multiple lines of businesses. Your work will help get trustworthy Earners on the road faster by reducing screening time while keeping a focus on trust and safety on Uber's platform.
What You'll Do:
Own a product roadmap and lead vision, definition, and execution for building a scalable platform for processing of documents and other artifacts.
Understand the pain points for our agents that process documents and background checks today to help define the best in class experience for them.
Take broad, conceptual ideals and work closely with engineering to make them a reality.
Collaborate with Uber internal partners, including product managers, engineering, data science, local teams, and global community operations.
What You'll Need:
Minimum of 3 years of Product management (or relevant) experience.
An ability to collaborate with other product teams and cross-functional partners to define and execute on your roadmap. This will be a cross-functional role, with partner teams spanning multiple offices globally.
A passion for building platforms/products at scale.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Technical aptitude and attention to detail.
Platform experience - you can take a laundry list of use cases and derive a common denominator that allows you to develop holistic solutions with internal partners.
Outstanding business and product sense - you can see how impacting one level in a complex system affects many others.
Demonstrated analytical capability.
