AfterPay is on the lookout for a Product Manager to further drive our growth and expansion story
To further drive our growth, in the booming market of e-commerce and payments, we are looking to strengthen our team with a new Product Manager focused on the Dutch market. AfterPay is the market leading brand in Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) in the Benelux region and to further strengthening our position we are rapidly expanding our product portfolio in the area of consumer financing to enable consumers to shop and pay in pace with life. We empower our product teams to solve hard problems of our users – consumer problems and merchant problems – in ways that users love yet contribute to our business. Our product team is cross-functional, comprising alongside product managers, product owners, experience designers, and engineers.
For you to succeed in this position, you are used to balancing local priorities towards international roadmaps with ease and are happy to handle moments of chaos. This means that you contribute a solid knowledge of the various constraints of the business – constraints from marketing, sales, service, finance, legal, and compliance are typical examples. Add in a deep knowledge of our users and the data about how they engage with our products, but even more importantly bring an insatiable curiosity and fascination of their decision making. You are expected to track industry trends and the competitive landscape as they pertain to your product.
While we empower our product teams to figure out the best solutions to the problems that need to be solved, we also hold teams accountable to the results. Writing user stories and shipping is necessary, but not sufficient. We look for passionate product managers who are not afraid of signing up for results, even when this means they have to work through others to succeed.
What you will do
Closely monitor the user experience and business performance of the product. Drive experiments and change to optimize results.
Do quantitative and qualitative research to improve our understanding of our users and their needs
Engage with the local business teams and stakeholders to ensure full product understanding as well as gathering input
Define, specify and test the product before planning and executing launch activities in collaboration with marketing
Collaborate with other product managers to ensure international cohesiveness while ensuring local flavours to features and applications
Follow market trends and competitor moves, while continuously intensifying the knowledge of the ecommerce market
Support in pre-sales activities with major business opportunities
Skills and Qualifications
A deep understanding of digital and commerce, especially in an online context
Substantial experience with technology-powered products as either a product manager, product owner, product designer, engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or user researcher
Commercial mindset, agile thinker with a understanding for modern product discovery and delivery
Experience from financial services, banking and insurance is valuable in this role given the regulatory demands and complexity of our products
A self-motivated person taking ownership and drive initiatives over the finish line
Ability to prioritize and deliver in a high paced international environment and a proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a collaborative relationship
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Relevant academic degree in engineering, business or equivalent
You are fluent in English and Dutch; German is a plus
Willingness to travel when needed, sometimes extensively – currently work from home
