The successful candidate will have a background in the pharmaceutical industry as well as a bachelor’s qualification in a relevant area.

Janssen Vaccine Launch Facility (VLF) within Janssen Biologics, is a state-of-the-art vaccine manufacturing facility at the Bioscience park in Leiden, where we proudly produce leading medicines against diseases that have a global impact, such as vaccines against HIV and RSV. Development of the COVID-19 vaccine is also underway, in-house, through Janssen Vaccines and Prevention. De functie / The role
The VLF is designed to manufacture drug substance on a 1000 L scale for Phase III and commercial purposes. The Process improvement engineer Drives the VLF’s performance by continual analyzing and improving performance metrics which supports the COV19/ RSV vaccine delivery.
In addition, he/she will prioritize and facilitate complex deep dive/Root Cause Problem Solving analysis.
Scope is the vaccine launch facility core processes and the supporting processes such as raw material flows, waste flows resource planning etc.
You will take ownership of the following:
Improve the Process performance across the VLF
Work with stakeholders to develop & establish metrics to measure against process capabilities
Develop further the system to measure failure modes [Ora] and PRM [process Risk management]
Delivers and maintains a project management organization [PMO] process to facilitate year on year improvement of the performance metrics for the vaccine business unit.
Tracks and reports results related to implemented continual improvement initiatives.
In consultation with resource managers, ensures continual improvement initiative resources are load levelled through the gatekeeping process.
Ranks by data driven decisions the improvement topics and facilitates the process to manage the project load through CONWIP principles.
Supports and builds stakeholders capabilities in the managing site performance process.
Responsible to keep connected with other BU’s and connection with MSP at site level [Tier 3]
Challenge the status quo and identify business improvement opportunities and consistently challenge solutions to problems. Fosters new ideas and the way to do things
Deploys the cultural change needed to drive value creation
Supports the process excellence department
Reporting of objectives / 4 ups
Stakeholder management / communication plans.
Support / facilitates work sessions across VLF regarding all kind of improvement topics.
Support continuous improvement activities done by team members through KAIZEN, CI, Belts, Co think, Agile etc.
Supports all the activities related to value increase on all elements [ Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost]
Het profiel / Your profile
We would love to hear from YOU, if you have the following essential requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or related industry role is required
Certification or willingness to pursue certification (GB/BB level) in at least one of the CI methodologies is required
General manufacturing experience is preferred
Proven lean knowledge and experience in JJOS deployment as minimal lead is preferred
Data driven mindset with ability to bring [manufacturing] context to the data.
Ability to be a process excellence change agent capable of influencing without direct authority is required
Knowledge of compliance, safety and environmental regulations, financial concepts, computer and software skills.
Defines problems and reaches valid conclusions.
Reads, interprets and analyses complex documents such as procedure manuals and performance metrics.
Works in team and independent.
Prepares effective presentations to employees and management.
