    Privacy Risk Manager

    Booking.com BV (the company behind Booking.com™, the leading online accommodation reservation service in the world) is in search of a Risk Manager to be part of our growing Risk & Controls organization.

    About the role

    As a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for supporting management to identify, assess and mitigate risk, with a primary focus on Privacy and Data Protection.

    Partnering closely with business stakeholders you will be responsible for developing a comprehensive view of risks and issues within the company’s privacy programme, as well as supporting the design of processes and controls to mitigate key risks.

    Successful risk management requires dynamic individuals who are able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, integrate perspectives and ultimately drive beneficial business outcomes.


    B.Responsible: key areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to

    • Work with senior management and SMEs from both first and second line functions to perform enterprise risk assessments, identify key risks, establish risk appetite and agree appropriate risk management actions
    • Manage and oversee the effective implementation and maintenance of key regulatory compliance frameworks, such as GDPR
    • Provide privacy subject-matter leadership and expertise to colleagues within R&C
    • Work closely with process and control owners to design effective controls, in order to strengthen the control environment, mitigate the company risks and support the business in achieving objectives
    • Act as a conduit and facilitator between the first line and the third line during audit activities
    • Design and maintain risk reporting for key governance forums, such as the Privacy Steering Committee and the Risk Committee
    • Support ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of the Booking.com risk management framework, governance, tooling and processes
    • Act as a risk ambassador within Booking.com in order to further enhance risk awareness and culture, including by facilitating formal training sessions

    B.Skilled

    • 6+ years of experience in Risk Management or Compliance
    • Strong understanding of general risk and control concepts including operational and strategic risk management
    • Strong working knowledge of GDPR
    • Data Protection qualifications such as CIPP/E
    • Curious and proactive in the assessment and challenge of risks
    • Able to drive change and solution oriented
    • Great communicator, quick thinker & confident in decision making
    • Independent & autonomous, while still a strong team player
    • Enthusiastic, self-starting and thrives in changing, agile environments
    • Experience with large e-commerce or tech companies is advantageous
    • Line management experience is advantageous
    • Fully comfortable working in English, both written and spoken
