    Postdoctoral Researcher/Data Manager at the uNMR-NL facility

    We are inviting applications for the position of a postdoctoral Researcher with an interest and expertise in computational structural biology and NMR data management for the uNMR-NL facility at Utrecht University. You will be contributing to computational developments in integrative structural biology in the Computational Structural Biology group, led by Prof. Alexandre M.J.J. Bonvin, and responsible for the data management aspects of the NMR Spectroscopy group and the uNMR-NL facility, setting up a data harvesting and sharing infrastructure in collaboration with our national e-Infrastructure at SURFSara. In addition to your daily interactions with the local NMR and computational groups, you will be in regular contact with the entire uNMR-NL consortium to streamline data management procedures at the various facilities.

    You should also have the ambition to contribute to the further development of our HADDOCK integrative modelling platform and associated services used by a large worldwide community. Further collaborations with other academic and industrial partners are possible.

    Profiel

    To become part of our team, we require you to have a PhD in chemistry, physics, biology or a related field with (ideally) a track record in structural biology and in particular NMR for the data management aspects of it, strong programming skills (Python is a must!), and experience with high-throughput and high performance computing and web development. You have the experience necessary to take your place within an international research and education environment and operate in the context of national and international collaborations.

    Aanbod

    You are offered an opportunity to be part of a team of excellent researchers in the field of computational structural biology, NMR and their application in diverse scientific areas;

    • a cutting-edge NMR and computational research infrastructure;
    • a position for two years with the possibility of an extension;
    • a full-time gross salary ranging from €3,408 to €4,474 per month (scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (cao));
    • 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
    • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities.

    In addition to the employment conditions laid down in the cao for Dutch Universities, Utrecht University has a number of its own arrangements. For example, there are agreements on professional development, leave arrangements and sports. We also give you the opportunity to expand your terms of employment via the Employment Conditions Selection Model. This is how we like to encourage you to continue to grow.

    More information about working at the Faculty of Science can be found here.

    Over de organisatie Your position will be embedded in the NMR Spectroscopy group at Utrecht University that aims at gaining atomic-level insight into complex (bio)molecular systems in vitro, in situ and in silico. The NMR group is member of the Bijvoet Center for Biomolecular Research, the Department of Chemistry and the Faculty of Science of Utrecht University, which are internationally renowned for their quality of research and education. The uNMR-NL consortium is funded by the NWO programme 'National Roadmap for Large-Scale Research Facilities' and provides access to ultra-high field NMR instrumentation. Its core partners are four universities (Utrecht University, Leiden University, Wageningen University and Research Centre and Radboud University) together with the public-private organisation COAST. Associate partners develop and apply high-field medical imaging at the four medical centers (LUMC, UMCU, AMC, RUMC). Research within uNMR-NL is flanked by the NMARRS educational programme.

    At the Faculty of Science there are 6 departments to make a fundamental connection with: Biology, Chemistry, Information and Computing Sciences, Mathematics, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Physics. Each of these is made up of distinct institutes that work together to focus on answering some of humanity’s most pressing problems. More fundamental still are the individual research groups – the building blocks of our ambitious scientific projects.

    Utrecht University is a friendly and ambitious university at the heart of an ancient city. We love to welcome new scientists to our city – a thriving cultural hub that is consistently rated as one of the world’s happiest cities. We are renowned for our innovative interdisciplinary research and our emphasis on inspirational research and excellent education. We are equally well-known for our familiar atmosphere and the can-do attitude of our people. This fundamental connection attracts Researchers, Professors and PhD candidates from all over the globe, making both the university and the Faculty of Science a vibrant international and wonderfully diverse community.
