The Bioprocess Engineering research group aims to develop novel concepts for compact, clean and efficient biotechnological manufacturing processes, starting from the fundamental and quantitative knowledge of biomolecular mechanisms, and integrating advanced technological, theoretical and experimental methods. Three directions can be distinguished: high-throughput measurement and modelling of biomolecular properties (1), equipment development (2), and bioprocess integration (3), which are applied to biopharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, bio-based chemicals, and bio-energy.
For the NWO EBA2.0 project, a Post-Doctoral researcher is sought with a background in physics or (bio) chemical engineering with a focus on multiphase computational fluid dynamics (CFD). In this project advanced multiphase solid liquid CFD calculations are used to design and optimize operation of next generation Expanded Bed Adsorption (EBA) equipment. We are therefore looking for a colleague with interest in design, analysis and scalability of solid liquid expanded beds for the capture of industrially relevant bio products. He/she will further develop our multiphase CFD code and strengthen our CFD based design of Expanded Bed Adsorption.
The ideal candidate has:
an MSc in (bio)chemical engineering, or an equivalent program
a PhD related to physics or (bio)chemical engineering
profound expertise in multiphase solid liquid fluidization modeling
proficiency in English
affinity with research at the interface of academia and industry
Duration of contract: 2 years.
This is a full time position for 38 hours.
Start salary € € 2.790,00 - € 4.402,00
A salary according to the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities, plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
