    Function description
The Breast cancer Immunotherapy & Immunology group of Marleen Kok aims at:

    1) Identifying those breast cancer patients who benefit from current generation immune checkpoint inhibitors
    2) Developing novel immunomodulatory approaches for breast cancer patients
    3) Providing better understanding of breast cancer-immune interactions on the tumor level as well as on the systemic immune response. We design innovative clinical trials in order to address translational research questions and in order to analyze the influence of immunomodulatory treatments on the tumor-microenvironment/ systemic immune response and vice versa.

Your main project will focus on studying the effect of (combination) immunotherapy on the anti-cancer-specific T cell activity and important immunosuppressive processes. We make use of single cell sequencings technologies and multiplex tissue imaging. Besides we will study tumor-reactivity in a functional manner. Our lab has key collaborations with research groups within the NKI as well as abroad. In addition, you will have a relatively independent role to launch side-studies and follow-up projects of already ongoing research. Moreover, you will function as a key liaison between our translational group and the preclinical immunology group of professor Karin de Visser to enable validation of important preclinical findings in patients.

    Job requirements
We are seeking a ambitious and enthusiastic postdoc with a strong background in cancer immunology and preferably translational research. Experience with multiplex tissue imaging is a plus. Besides running you research project, your responsibilities include the supervision of the laboratory work of (PhD) students and to initiate studies aiming at clinical validation of preclinical findings from our collaborators from the De Visser lab. Proficiency in English and good communicative skills are important requirements, as is a team player mentality.
    Compensation
Your temporarily appointment will be initially for 2 years with the possibility to extend. The gross salary for a fulltime appointment will range from € 3.447,- to € 4.077,- per month, depending on previous experience. The terms of employment will be in accordance with FWG 55 of the CAO Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals).

In addition you will receive a fixed end-of-year bonus in December (8,33%) and in May you will receive 8,33% holiday pay. For more information in regard to the secondary conditions please visit our website: https://www.nki.nl/careers-study/how-to-apply/
