The Beam & Optics group is one of the pillars of TEM Solutions, the Research and Development organization for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). This group is committed to develop cutting edge technologies, modules and software that enable us to deliver world class TEM microscopes for our demanding markets and customers. With the ongoing developments in physics and industry the requirements for optical performance of these TEM microscopes are continuously growing. Aligning well with Advanced Technology Development and several selected collaboration-partners this group is striving to convert the most promising technological concepts into real products for creating and guiding electron beams for imaging with near-perfect optical performance. The increasing demand for developing specific electron optical solutions has opened a challenging position for a talented Module Architect. In this position, you will collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team to develop new modules (like aberration correctors, e-beam sources among others) to extend our roadmap and product portfolio in transmission electron microscopy. We rely on you to translate market requirements into module design specifications, architecture and module design. This includes the responsibility for optimization of module-level performance (technical performance, quality, throughput, costs) during the initial phase of product development. You will develop and maintain a module roadmap for the Beam & Optics group. As the Module Architect you will be part of an enthusiastic team of scientists and system engineers. The position reports into the manager of the sub-team Science and Systems Engineering within the Beam and Optics group who will assist you in your personal development, while the project priorities and planning will be coordinated mainly by the program execution managers and the overall system architects.

The following expectations of education and experience are key elements for a successful candidate:
Typically requires 7+ years of experience with proven track record of software- (e.g. Python scripting) as well as hardware-focused design activities.
Typically, a university degree is required, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills.
Advanced knowledge on a broad area of Electron Microscopy related technologies is strongly preferred.
Capable of frequent and productive interactions with sr. management, supervisors, customers and peers, on matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
Fluent communication in English is mandatory in our international environment.
Excellent skills in persuading, inspiring, developing and motivating are required in the interaction with other people.
Competent in creating the right working climate because major accountabilities are achieved through teamwork with others.
Advisor to system engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers and project leaders in R&D, Manufacturing and Service to resolve problems and/or meet schedules.
Training such as Design for Six Sigma, or experience with bringing modules from requirements phase to the market is preferred.
