Middle Office Assistant (Academic Part-time Job)
Are you looking for a part-time position in a dynamic and highly international work environment? Optiver is currently looking for a student to support the Middle Office team with controlling trading expenses.
Who we are
Optiver is a leading global electronic market maker, focused on pricing, execution and risk management. From our offices in Amsterdam, Chicago, Shanghai and Sydney, we provide liquidity to financial markets using our own capital, at our own risk, trading a wide range of products: from listed derivatives, cash equities, ETFs and bonds to foreign exchange. What really sets Optiver apart from other companies is its openness, honesty and our colleagues. People have very strong opinions, but they are also open to listen and to change their mind if the facts presented by others have more value.
What you'll do
Middle Office plays a key role in facilitating our trading activities by making sure we are in control of all the drivers of the trading result, as well as by providing business support throughout the life cycle of a trade.
As Middle Office Assistant, you will be part of a team of experienced professionals that work closely with our traders and other stakeholders, both inside and outside of the organization. You will be assisting the team with controlling our trading expenses in particular. Transaction volumes are high and the expenses can be complex; that means accuracy and timeliness are key. You will be the main contact for the trading desks on the one hand, as well as our external stakeholders such as brokers and exchanges on the other. As such we are looking for someone that brings a mindset that is both inquisitive and innovative in nature. How much responsibilities you will have is fully dependent on your ability to absorb new information and show consistent reliability of execution.
Being part of the Middle Office team will offer you a unique insight into the inner workings of Optiver. This is an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career with real experience in a truly international environment.
What you'll need
A Bachelor or Master Student in Finance, Accounting, Economics or an equivalent;
Available for a minimum of 12 hours per week;
Proven record of academic excellence;
A detail-oriented and analytical mindset;
A keen interest in programming and database querying languages such as Python and PostgreSQL, and in putting these skills to use to automate tasks;
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English. Dutch is not required.
What you'll get
We understand that our best work is done together. We constantly ask ourselves how to do better, which creates a stimulating and fun environment, where you are seriously rewarded for your performance. To be concrete, we offer competitive remuneration and great secondary benefits, such as an attractive profit-sharing structure, training opportunities, fully paid first-class commuting expenses, a premium-free pension, breakfast and lunch facilities, sports and leisure activities, even weekly chair massages and of course Friday afternoon drinks. We are used to guiding expats through their relocation and offer relocation packages and discounts on health insurance.
If you are interested, please apply directly below by uploading your CV and Cover letter in English. Applications without a letter of motivation will not be reviewed. If you have any questions feel free to contact Claire van Raay at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kindly note that we do not require any assistance from third-parties including agencies in the recruitment of this role.
