Our International Legal & Compliance group’s primary responsibility is to protect the legal interests of our organization and its personnel by handling all legal and critical compliance matters arising, to help ensure that our organization remains in material compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as internal corporate policies, standards and guidance. Our team in Haarlem (3) partners with leaders of our Dutch human health organization to ensure we maintain the company values and high ethical standards, protect our people and assets, and enhance our reputation.
Purpose of the role
Under the direction of the Director Legal & Compliance, you will be expected to handle a variety of commercial and corporate responsibilities. The job differs every day - there's a variety of reasons for teams to contact you for advice, revising documents and contracts or anything related to commercial law. You handle routine commercial contract review, with occasional drafting, and you will independently resolve problems, lead negotiations, propose and draft alternative wording and/or offer pragmatic solutions. Occasionally the (re)drafting of a contract is also required, particularly during negotiations or if it is for an activity/situation where there is no template available. You will also take on some of the Legal & Compliance functions in internal compliance processes. Examples are review of promotional and corporate communication materials, due diligence reviews and assessments of mitigation plans. At times you will offer support to our Paralegal and handle corporate housekeeping tasks for the company’s Dutch legal entities. This role works in close collaboration with mostly Commercial, Procurement and Manufacturing.

Dutch University degree in law combined with at least 3 – 5 years of relevant experience as an in-house legal counsel in a commercial business environment or in a private practice;
Proven experience with drafting, reviewing and negotiating (commercial) contracts;
Strong personality with an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to connect on different levels easily;
Experience in the life sciences industry is a plus;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English;
Fulltime available and living at a reasonable distance from Haarlem.
