Livestock, Poultry and Dairy (LPD) provides diagnostic tests and services to monitor the health of herd and flock animals worldwide.
You will be responsible for LPD bovine diagnostic product marketing and strategic direction of bovine product line within the Livestock, Poultry and Dairy Line of Business; including marketing programs, technical programs, strategy, planning, product definition, and/or financial return for the functional area. Responsibilities include financial estimate of market potential, product design, market segmentation, launch, maintenance, and growth. Serve as subject matter expert on bovine products and possess high level of technical acumen. Products and services include worldwide responsibility.
What you will do:
Maintain responsible for global LPD bovine diagnostic product marketing
Manage product segments comprised of sets of features that are addressing customers.
May manage several concurrent projects as well as manage across disciplines/functions.
Requires in-depth knowledge and experience. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services. Contributes to process improvements.
Solves complex problems or problems that do not have routine solutions; takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
Works independently; receives minimal guidance.
Responsible for the LPD bovine product roadmap and product positioning which includes creating, updating and maintaining the marketing materials and working with regions on supporting campaigns, identifying and selecting marketing opportunities, and developing communication strategies with Marketing and Communications.
Communicates with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
Provide customer feedback and leads/participates in teams related to new or ongoing project work and other areas as needed.
Assist/define/establish strategic direction for worldwide bovine product line consistent with overall LOB strategy, IDEXX mission and Livestock, Poultry and Dairy direction.
Assist/define/establish/achieve all financial and other objectives for the bovine product line.
Develop and implement bovine products and features to maximize IDEXX’s return from targeted markets.
Identify customer needs and market trends and recommend pricing strategies.
Research competitor products and maintain competitive comparisons and evaluations. Gather insights to shape the direction of the product.
Assist/develop bovine product profiles, presentations, demos, white papers, and product updates for organizational marketing materials
Define target markets and segmentation and clarify bovine product commercial potential.
Communicate with customers and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to gain feedback on user product experiences and opportunities. Ensure correct features are identified, taking into account customers, sales, finance, related lines of business and others. Prioritize and negotiate to build best possible set of features to be included and developed in the new bovine products.
Promote/train bovine product advantages and benefits to IDEXX employees, key vendors and others.
Develop/maintain knowledge of Company products and services as well as changes and developments in the industry affecting work activities. May participate in outside industry groups and forums related to business activities.
May be responsible for budget setting, monitoring and control.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Masters degree or equivalent preferred.
Preferably a degree in animal science or veterinary medicine
Management skills and ability.
Ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities.
General knowledge/experience with livestock industry specifically bovine (dairy and beef) and disease diagnostic technologies.
General business knowledge required, including specific knowledge of marketing and product management, including product development, segmentation/targeting, product positioning/pricing and forecasting/promotion
Excellent customer service and business relationship-building skills required.
Reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues.
Solid financial management and analysis skills
Communication skills, both verbal and written.
Influencing skills to gain commitment and support for decisions and motivate the organization to support the bovine product line
Strong/advanced presentation skills; ability to present and explain product information to all audiences.
Personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Typically, 4-6 years relevant industry experience including product experience. Proven leadership skills.
