    Manager Flexibility Services

    For our new Flexibility Services Team we are looking for top talents (m/f/d) to join us and fill the position as Manager Flexibility Services (m/f/d)

    You will be working in the Operational Unit Operations (OU). Operations is responsible for providing Analysis, IT, Energy Trading and Risk Management and Project Management support to the Vattenfall Assets, Customers and Trading Divisions – the mission is to drive digitalization. Operations is consisting of highly skilled employees with backgrounds ranging from mathematics, engineering, economics, IT to project management.

    Our organization:

    BA Markets is the Business Area where all Asset Optimization and Trading activities are centralized for the Vattenfall Group. Our activities are multi-site located across Europe with around 450 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark. We trade the full range of energy commodities such as electricity, gas, oil, coal, freight, renewable energies and emissions, take responsibility for a diversified sourcing of power, fuels and carbon credits and optimize the running and hedging of Vattenfall’s generation assets with the Vision to grow on optimising flexible, decentral and small-scale Assets.

    OU Operations is part of Business Area Markets, maximising the value of Vattenfall’s portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall’s assets and sales positions. We offer power purchase agreements to operators of wind or solar parks, optimize internal and 3rd party batteries, decentral production & flexibility and enter into origination deals within the B2B segment.

    The Flexibility Services team will be newly set up. The teams main purpose will be providing the platform and operational support for products in the flexibility area. This includes connection to the assets, aggregation, optimization and the trading-interface to ensure a reliable, scalable multi-asset multi-market platform

    As Manager Flexibility Services (m/f/d) (N-3) you will report to the Director Business Infrastructure (BI) within OU Operations and you will be part of the BI management team. You will be responsible for a department with colleagues and business peers in Hamburg, Stockholm and Amsterdam. You have the following key responsibilities:

    • Leading and developing the BI Flex Services Team with 8 employees (mainly Software Developers) across two locations (Amsterdam & Hamburg)
    • Product Ownership for all Flexibility Service products which includes the stakeholder management, vision / roadmap for the products and steering of the development team.
    • Managing Key Interfaces to Sales organisation (BU Customers), Dispatch (BU Assets) and other Strategic Agile Teams like Assets Efficiency & Intraday Algo Trading Team.
    • Taking responsibility for operation & maintenance and System-Ownership of dedicated BA Markets IT applications in the Flexibility area
    • Select, design, negotiate and challenge solutions in close co-operation with front office & Business Owners
    • Management of Vattenfall’s Central IT units for deliveries of infrastructure & underlying application services (e.g. databases, servers, network) for the supported business applications
    • Management of external suppliers & contracts for delivery of services and applications
    • Applying practical energy market knowledge with a focus on Flexibility & Ancillary Service Markets

    Your personal characteristics:

    • You are a highly motivated and performance oriented leader who is able to focus on both people development and business. As a leader, you are clear, visible and courageous. You lead change, you are accountable and you create trust.
    • You are trustworthy, have a high-level of integrity and you are able to work independently with own initiative.
    • You are experienced in working in an international as well as in a regional and local environment and have an established Vattenfall network inside and outside of BA Markets.
    • You have excellent cooperation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information and manage different stakeholders on all managerial levels
    • You are experienced in using Agile Methodologies like SCRUM
    • Your command of English is strong, both verbally and written.
    • You have a high willingness to travel.

    Your qualifications:

    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in energy business; preferably Trading, Sales or Asset Optimisation.
    • University degree or equal qualification, preferably in the area of computer sciences
    • Experience as a leader in an international organization, preferably >3 years of leadership experience
    • Experience with Flexibility Products, energy markets, sales processes, target architecture development, utilising scrum and agile development methods and continuous process enhancement through operational excellence
    • You have experience in managing competing priorities in a demanding and time critical environment.

    The location of this position is Amsterdam (Hoekenrode Office).
