    Legal Counsel / DPO Officer

    Legal Counsel / GDPR / Data Privacy Officer / Master / law / Perm / Hoofddorp/ 32 hours

    Your new role
    The Legal Counsel supports the Senior Manager Legal handling European legal issues and is the specialist on GDPR and privacy law issues.
    The core of this function is providing practical and legally compliant advice on data protection law compliance. This will be to all the European business units, Management, and to local data protection coordinators in the EU subsidiaries.
    Approximately 25% of the work will be supporting the business units on commercial contracting, including
    contracts for indirect procurement of products/services, NDAs, and occasionally supporting the Senior Legal
    Counsel with global sales/leasing contracting. Approximately 5% is corporate housekeeping, and executing
    changes to the corporate register as required. Approximately 70% of your time you will advise on latest development in national and European Data Protection Laws. You will monitor compliance of data processing activities with applicable data protection laws, policies and in relation to the protection of personal data.
    You are also responsible for: assignment of responsibilities, awareness-raising and training of staff involved in
    data processing operations and support in preparing for the GDPR audit. It's a position for around 32 hours a week.

    What you'll need to succeed

    • Master’s degree in law
    • At least 3 years legal work experience either in a law firm or in-house legal department advising on data protection law compliance and commercial contracting
    • Strong interest and affinity with IT products and legal issues applicable to procuring and selling IT solutions
    • Fluent spoken and written English with ability to explain legal issues in plain English
    • Can-do and professional attitude
    • Demonstrate professional history of working with integrity
    • Must be able to exercise independent advisory role and where applicable independent decision-making
    • Enthusiasm to work in an international work environment
    • Experience in creating and delivering in-house legal training
    • Legal research skills
    • Willingness to travel, if required
    • Handles legal issues discreetly and confidentially
    • Shows initiative and creativity in organising and handling activities
    • Team player with willingness to share knowledge
    • Sociable character
