The Legal Counsel, under the supervision of Senior Legal Counsel, will work on a broad range of legal aspects. The Legal Counsel will assist the Senior Legal Counsel with safeguarding Rainforest Alliance’s reputation by guaranteeing that the organization follows law guidelines. The Legal Counsel will give legal advice to management and staff about all relevant issues. The position will assist the Global Internal Compliance team on internal policy compliance and contract management.
Supports management and staff, solicited and unsolicited, at all common legal areas including corporate law, civil law, intellectual property, (international) employment law, contract law, and risk management;
Drafts and negotiates contracts with customers, suppliers, partners, etc.;
Monitors processes, documents, contracts, etc.;
Monitors and safeguards compliance; and
Trains staff on internal contract management systems, negotiation terms, and other compliance matters and requirements.
Supports Global Internal Compliance on contract management and policy enforcement;
Advises teams on contract terms and internal processes;
Trains staff on best management practices, policies, and procedures;
Supports and advises the Legal team and other departments on governance, employment, intellectual property, disputes, and compliance;
Supports and advises on insurance;
Collaborates with and coordinates external legal advisors/specialists; and
Supports in corporate affairs.
Establish business legal services and expands them;
Keeps knowledge up to date through training and technical information by own initiative; and
Attends relevant meetings, projects meetings, events, and conferences, etc.
A minimum of 5 years of experience (of which at least 1 year in an international organization);
A strong affinity for sustainability and corporate social responsibility;
Knowledge of and relevant experience in contract law and compliance; and
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Commensurate with experience.
