The teaching team is responsible for all parts of the education: preparation, teaching, testing, and grading within existing courses, as well as modernizing courses and developing new courses. Our teaching consists of a mix of lectures, short movie clips, and practical and computer lab sessions. The courses are offered face-to-face, blended, or completely online. Our goal is that our teaching practices be in line with current pedagogical ideas about teaching biostatistics at the academic level.
The courses you (co-)teach and other responsibilities will depend on your background, experience and interest.
The Biostatistics teaching team consists of a core group of five enthusiastic teachers and is part of the Data Science and Biostatistics department of the Julius Center, UMC Utrecht. The team is in charge of the biostatistics teaching within the Bachelor and Master programs of the Medicine (CRU+, SUMMA, Clinical Health Sciences and Biomedical Sciences) and Pharmaceutical Sciences. We are also a partner in the Research Master Methodology and Statistics for the Behavioural, Biomedical and Social Sciences and the Master Epidemiology, and we give extracurricular courses for researchers.
The successful candidate has a strong background in (bio)statistics and a passion for teaching. You have experience in SPSS and R; experience with Mentimeter and Shiny R is an advantage. You are able to explain abstract statistical concepts in a way that provides students insight. You preferably have 1-2 years’ experience in teaching biostatistics. We strive for constant improvement in our teaching and expect that you are willing to learn and to self-reflect. You are fluent in English, and either fluent in Dutch or willing to learn.

The maximum salary for this position (32 - 36 hours) is € 4.615,00 gross per month based on full-time employment. It is a permanent position.
