The */dxg Delivery and Support Services (DDS) team is expanding and looking for Software Development manager. You will be working at Wolters Kluwer’s global head office situated in Alphen a/d Rijn. DSS team is part of the Digital Experience Group (*/dxg) and leverages both local and centralized innovations across the whole company.

Together with the other development managers you are responsible for leading a growing group of software development teams who are building our web-based products for Wolters Kluwer businesses in about 10 countries. You work closely with product owners and businesses to make sure that we build the capabilities that are most important to our customers and you will support your teams in reaching their goals. Your direct peers are the DSS Technical Project Manager and the Solution Architect.

You understand that no system is perfect and there is always room for improvement. Both for the processes we follow and the software we build. Although you can hold your own in technical discussions, both within- and across teams, you know that getting out of the way is usually the better option. You know how to get things done based on influence, servant leadership and you use authority as the last option available.

We do agile software development based on Scrum and where cross team alignment is needed we add a layer of the Scaled Agile framework. Our development teams are (mostly) situated in Hungary, Belarus, Poland and India. Considering our geographic spread some amount of travelling might be required.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Lead a growing group of agile software development teams in various geographical locations

• Support technical team leads in solving problems and issues and be a voice for the team within Wolters Kluwer

• Coach and develop team leads as well as team members

• Balance the teams between QE, development and seniority levels

• Work closely with Product Owners, businesses and align the development teams with the business and your peers, the DSS Technical Project Manager and the Solution Architect

• Organize team structure to achieve business priorities

Your profile

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field would be preferred

• 5+ years’ experience in leading development teams, preferably in a near-shoring set-up.

• Diverse IT experience; developer, lead developer, scrum master is appreciated

• Background in software engineering

• Experience in product development with cross-functional teams

• Independent, pragmatic, positive and pro-active work attitude

• Experience with aligning different software development teams
