    Junior/Medior Trader Central Dealing

    The job in a nutshell

    We are looking for a junior or medior trader to join the central dealing team of Aegon Asset Management (AAM) in The Hague. Aegon Asset Management (AAM) is a global, active investment manager. Investors worldwide entrust our organization to manage approximately €345 billion on their behalf. Aegon Asset Management has operations throughout the UK, Continental Europe, North America and Asia.

    In this role you will work seamlessly together with your colleagues and portfolio manager to ensure the perfect execution of trades. The Central Dealing team is a small team and consist of 2 seasoned traders. You will report directly to the Head of Derivatives & Hedging.

    Key responsibilities

    • Execution of mostly listed securities for our investment teams in various asset classes, like bond (Govies, IG, HY), loans, repo, equities and futures and options
    • Complying to obligations from regulators. (i.e. Mifid II, SEC, AFM among them)
    • Playing an active role in sourcing liquidity and generate trading ideas, mainly for the Money Market Fund.
    • Producing periodical management reports regarding market shares, trading costs and KPI/KRI’s.
    • Exploring new trading venues and/or techniques to enhance trading effectiveness and performance.
    • Monitoring developments regarding legislations around trading in general.
    • Supporting the Senior traders where needed.
    • Solving booking issues from an execution perspective.
    • Investigating and generating ideas regarding process improvements.


    As a trader in the Central Dealing team you are analytical and have a sharp eye for market development. You are a team player and have the ability to establish an outstanding relationship with the Portfolio Managers and brokers. Finally, you deliver your work in a reliable and consistent manner and you pay attention to the quality of your work.

    Furthermore, this is your future position because you:

    • have 0-5 years relevant working experience
    • have a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or related study
    • are a CFA charter holder or willing to participate in this program
    • are DSI certified or willing to register with the DSI and meet the compulsory Guidelines of the European Securities Markets Authority (ESMA) on knowledge, skills and expertise
    • have affinity with trading and fixed income
    • have excellent trading and negotiation skills
    • are process oriented and proactively share new insights and ideas
    • have excellent communication skills
    • have an accurate, structured and well-organized way of working
    • have experience with Excel and VBA
    • are flexible to change from one activity to another many times a day
