Junior Treasury Manager
Our team manages portfolios that contain interest rate and foreign exchange risks. These are amongst the largest portfolios in the bank and the complexity of the topics we deal with is enormous. Exciting? Absolutely!
We are looking for a strong junior candidate with outstanding analytical skills to complement our team. The candidate will join the team in further improving the way we operate and focus on developing and maintaining the tools we use for managing risks and results. These state-of-the-art tools are predominantly built in Excel / VBA.
Your work environment
Group Treasury is the department that operates at the heart of the bank. Its purpose is to safeguard a healthy balance sheet, such that commercial units can support our clients to arrange their finance.
The Market Risk & Execution team takes the lead in bringing the bank’s market risk profile within risk appetite limits and grasps opportunities when they arise. The scope is broad and includes the management of interest rate risk and foreign exchange risk. The team of 8 FTE is located in the Amsterdam dealingroom – probably the most exciting environment within the bank, where you can sometimes feel the tension in the financial markets. The team is responsible for some of the largest portfolios within the bank (think in terms of many hundreds of million Euro profit per year). We advise the Management Board of the bank on positions and risks.
Next to managing own portfolios, we are functionally responsible for risks world-wide. As such, the team closely collaborates with other Treasury teams across the globe, ranging from New York to Sydney. We keep an eye on global risks and support those teams improving the way to manage theirs. Furthermore, we find sparring partners in the Finance and Risk teams.
We operate in an agile manner, which we, as first bank in the world, copied from the Google’s and Spotify’s of this world. Working agile means we are fast and flexible; and that we operate as a true team, not as a set of individuals. Besides, it makes all team members exposed to a wide variety of topics – very exciting, but challenging at the same time.
The team develops advanced tools, predominantly in Excel / VBA. The tools support us in making the right decisions of what risks to either hedge or keep. As the world changes continuously, so do our tools. Functionality has to be enhanced and live up to changing regulations and insights. We are looking for a new colleague to take this forward.
How to succeed
We are looking for a strong junior candidate with outstanding analytical skills to complement our team. Further more you have / are:
Master’s degree in a technical study. This can for instance be econometrics, physics or math. Grades should be clearly above average, preferably cum laude or summa cum laude
We are looking for a junior treasurer, so work experience is not required
Affinity with the financial markets
Strong programming skills (regardless of the programming language)
Fluent in English (Dutch is not required)
Strong in analytics / problem solving - this is core for the role.
Excellent in communication; making complex matters look simple
Show ‘ O range code behavior ’: take it on and make it happen, help others to be successful, always a step ahead.
