Galileo is Europe’s own global navigation satellite system and will consist of a constellation of 24 satellites and 6 spares. It is capable of providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control.
To strengthen our IT Support team responsible for the IT Support for the entire CGI-NL Space unit, we are looking for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer.
You will join an international Space team with colleagues from all over the EU, a diverse and inclusive environment where you can develop your talent in business and technology driven setting.
Your day-to-day activities
As a Junior Infrastructure Engineer on our Infrastructure team, you will be working on IT Support projects across the Space unit. Besides, from time to time you will join the work within specific Space projects too if OU IT Support priorities allow so.
The responsibility of this role is maintaining the OU IT network with all aspects of continuity and development of the infrastructure. This involves activities in e.g. Incident Management, automation desktop service and Microsoft desktop / server-based management.
The Space IT environment is characterized by a high level of complexity and a variety of disciplines with the added challenge of it being operational and requiring next to 100% availability.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong interest in overall IT infrastructure in a complex integrated system, in addition to having analytic and strong communication skills required for this position. We are seeking someone who is well-organized, pro-active, energetic, eager to learn, a team player and with attention to detail to join our team in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
You are responsible for ensuring that any item you support:
is registered according to the ITIL Incident Management process
to propose solutions and that actions are responded and closed to in a timely manner
is of good quality (i.e. documents, change logs well commented and formatted) and is
written / reviewed in line with the Security Classification and safety level it’s been assigned.
Additionally you are responsible for:
Supporting Incident and Change Management, 1st line support for the overall IT
infrastructure (combined with 3rd parties)
Required documentation being in place and reviewed and published on WIKI pages
being a pro-active member in Change Control Board meetings supporting continuous
Incident Management (2nd line support experience would be a recommendation)

Thin client workspace architectures (Windows AD or Similar) – prepared to develop
Able to demonstrate experience with workstations / Server and other hardware
Experience with Automation Desktop Service
Server and Automation management – prepared to develop

Knowledge of networks (layer 2 and 3)
Knowledge of network firewalls
VEEAM back-up management
Virtualisation (Oracle / VMware)
Enterprise IT Backup concepts and infrastructures
JUNOS / HPE Networks (LAN)
You have demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills while working in a team.
Education and certification
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience with a focus on Information
