Internship Data science and Electrical engineering
In this internship and/or graduation project, the student will try to validate our in-house power-grid-model using existing models in the market. In case of mismatch on results, he/she will investigate/clarify the source of differences and give recommendations for improvements.
The assignment could include the following tasks:
Study the principle and the usage of our in-house power-grid-model.
Design various validation test cases.
Commit all the test cases into the GitHub repository with the documentation.
You are a university student with an Electrical Power Engineering background. You are also interested in modeling complex systems and working with large amounts of data, and you are looking for a graduation or internship. You also have:
Following a university study.
Living in the Netherlands.
Knowledge of steady-state power system analysis, such as power flow, state estimation.
Affinity with doing and setting up numerical experiments.
Nice to have (or willing to learn)
Familiar with existing power system analysis software (e.g. PowerFactory)
Programming experience with regard to modeling in Python and/or C++.
Basic knowledge about software engineering (e.g. GIT, version control, unit test, etc.).

Where will you work?
You will be part of the IT Advanced Analytics Chapter with over 40 Data Scientists and Data Engineers. People in this chapter are spread out in different multidisciplinary scrum teams and they work on challenges like:
Where is the greatest chance of a power failure?
Which households will probably placing solar panels on their roof in the coming years?
Can we estimate the difficulty of a task for a contractor from a photo of the customer’s meter cabinet with image recognition?
We offer you the experience to be part of one of these scrum-teams at least parttime. It's also fine to work more independently in close relation with your internship supervisor. Who is a PhD in electrical engineering and a guest lecturer at the university of Eindhoven.
