Become one of our 20 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.
Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meet-ups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.
Your role as a Trainee – Business Excellence Onshore Wind
As a Business Excellence Onshore Wind you will be a part of a cross-border Business Excellence Team, supporting with process definition and continuous improvement of it. Business Excellence’s mission is to enable the Onshore wind organisation to work in the most productive and standardised way. Your work week is filled by cooperating with colleagues and deep diving into the processes around our Onshore Wind business. Since you are working with multiple teams, you understand how various processes are linked to each other and you’re able to steer towards the bigger picture of the organisation. On the other hand, you are able to dive into the detailed issues at hand.
In this job you’ll get in touch with all aspects of our Onshore wind business, from early-stage project development, design, procurement and construction to operations and asset management of the wind farms.
Your daily activities:
You support your colleagues in the business unit with mapping out their processes, describing the roles & responsibilities and finding opportunities for continuous improvement. You’re doing this in workshop settings, where you are the facilitator.
You are a frontrunner when it comes to the adoption of new digital ways of working and you are able to explain these to colleagues in the business unit and support them with the use of it. You’re translating the needs of your colleagues into user-friendly digital solutions to support their way of working.
Process improvements are often approached as projects, therefore you act as a project manager where you define the work scope and complete this with a motivated team around you.
You are thinking and steering towards the big picture and focus on standardization, while solving the issues at hand. This means that you create a roadmap or strategy, for example on process excellence or our digital tooling landscape. You are able to understand and explain to others how the current activities contribute to the future picture.

As a Trainee – Business Excellence Onshore Wind you recognize yourself in the following:
You have a Master’s degree in a Business Administration, Engineering & Management or Information Technology.
You are a generalist at heart, and you embrace it as your strength
You have a strong affinity with IT and digital tools
You communicate clearly and persuasively, with patience and consultancy mindset
You are outgoing and truly interested in the work of others. You try to speak other person’s language rather than impose your way of working.
You work on your relationship with stakeholders by taking a supportive and positive position and you help others in our business unit improve.
You deliver your work in an understandable and to-the-point manner, so that your colleagues understand it and are able to use it in their daily work. This also means pro-active communication with and involvement of our colleagues in what we do
You are able to work in a setup where the end-state is not always fully clear. Even more so, you are so comfortable with uncertainty that you are also able to support your stakeholders in dealing with it.
You are our ideal trainee if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree or you graduate before September 2021. You are fluent in English. Skills in other world languages can be a merit. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. And of course, you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
You will be working in the Business Excellence Team within in Business Unit Onshore and the position is located in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
