    International Tax Sr Manager

    At Amgen Breda medicines are labelled, assembled, stored and eventually shipped to various countries worldwide. Every day more than 1000 people with 38 different nationalities are working on supply chain processes, manufacturing, marketing and sales of our medicines and clinical research into new medicines. The location is also a hub for global and regional teams, including our Finance teams.


    What you will do

    The International Tax department for the region Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Canada (ELMAC), is primarily responsible for ensuring that Amgen’s business transactions and initiatives are efficiently conducted and executed in a tax compliant and responsible manner. As part of this team you are the key tax advisor on tax strategy and tax structuring matters with the ELMAC regional functions including sales and marketing, supply chain, law, finance, accounting, treasury and other functions. You will oversee various tax matters (including reporting and tax examinations) carried out by local country finance teams in the region, assisted by accounting firms.

    • Lead all aspects of a strategic tax function, with a primary focus on the European region;
    • Work with key business and functional leaders and their staff on a wide variety of tax matters to ensure strategic corporate and tax objectives are met;
    • Manage external service providers;
    • Act as a liaison with the different countries to ensure that there is timely and thoughtful communication;
    • Work with the regional and global tax team to ensure alignment with global tax strategies;
    • Ensure and enhance implementation of global tax policies;
    • Provide tax guidance to the Regional and local finance teams on a wide variety of tax matters;
    • Support the finance teams in the region to defend foreign tax audits;
    • Oversee tax legislative efforts and incentive negotiations;
    • Mentor staff for further development within the team.


    What we expect of you

    We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The Tax professional we seek is a self-starter who shows initiative and meets these qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in accounting or finance or a law;
    • At least 9 years of experience in tax planning, along with 5 or more years in international tax planning, from a Big Four Accounting firm, a major law firm or a tax department of a multinational corporation;
    • Solid understanding of international and European taxation;
    • Good understanding of transfer pricing and tax accounting;
    • Experience with a U.S. multinational corporation is preferred;
    • Experience with the pharmaceutical, biotech or high-tech industry is preferred.

    • A great teammate with strong interpersonal skills;
    • Excellent at presenting and communicating to all levels within the organization;
    • Good organizer, planner and project manager.
