    Unilever is proud of its Tea business, the biggest in the world, with world class purpose driven brands such as Lipton, PG tips and Pukka. Recently, Unilever decided to separate the Tea business to ensure it can best achieve its potential. Unilever is currently reviewing several options for separation, including a demerger, an initial public offering, a disposal or through partnership models. The Tea businesses in India and Indonesia, and the partnership interests in the ready-to-drink Tea joint ventures will be retained.

    Your Role:

    As Internal & Sustainability Engagement Communications manager your role is a split responsibility;

    to develop and execute proactive engagement & communications plans in support of growing the desired culture of the new Tea Division.

    to shape Communication Strategy and to drive engagement within future ecosystem (partners, media and other) in order to position TeaCo as industry leader in Sustainability.


    You will be reporting to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) with a dotted line reporting to the Chief R&D and Sustainability Officer; this dual reflection allows you to make use of opportunities on both sides of your scope, growing the category and living the brand’s values.


    You will be closely collaborating with our strategic partners with whom we closely collaborate to improve and grow the wellbeing of people & planet. Initiatives will be supported by you with proactive communications to amplify news and manage issues. For this you will be closely collaborating with your colleagues in the team, e.g. External Affairs and Media relations.


    You develop all required materials for both internal & external engagement as required and prepare leaders and other spokespeople while making use of the channels and platforms available or created by you and the global communications team.


    Your
    Key Tasks:

    • You will be responsible for developing and implementing the internal engagement and communications strategy to help embed Tea’s culture and values.

    • You will be responsible for maintaining relations with our strategic partners supporting us in our sustainability efforts, and developing and implementing related communications plans & planning, and mitigate issues.

    • You work closely together with your direct colleagues to help drive integrated communications bringing the Tea Division’s brand PR, sustainability communications and seasonal campaigns to life.

    • You will closely collaborate with the Plant Power Academy to leverage their knowledge and tea mastery in relation to sustainably and purposeful doing business.

    • Responsible for organization of internal events and communications supporting the organization’s objectives.

    • Position senior leaders with key media and external stakeholders and brief them for media interaction.


    Key Interfaces
    and relevant stakeholders for this role:

    • Reporting line to the Chief Communications Officer and a dotted reporting line to the Chief R&D and Sustainability Officer

    • Interacting with Senior Executives

    • Strategic partners (e.g. Martin Bauer Group) and industry institutions (e.g. ETP)

    • Tea Community with central role of our Estates and Tea Producers linked through our Supply Chain.

    • Member of the global (corporate) communications team, interacting closely with your colleagues on External Affairs, Global PR, Corporate and Consumer Brands, Digital & Social)

    Required Experiences:

    • A minimum of 5-10 years of rounded communications experience, with a focus on internal communications.

    • Bringing along knowledge and experience in field of NGO or sustainability communications.

    • Track record of managing issues.

    • Effective juggling of multiple deliverables simultaneously

    • Experience of working at a senior Communications level in an international, global complex organization.

    • Good understanding of working in a multicultural environment and the ability to demonstrate a dedication to the promotion of fairness and equality.

    • Interests and values supporting purposeful strategy of TeaCo.

    Required Skills:

    • Fluent in English.

    • Team player. Keeps a balance between personal accountability and delivery through teamwork.

    • Proactive ‘can do’ attitude with flexibility in handling ad hoc requests with short deadlines.

    • Proven networking abilities, and experienced at managing a wide range of stakeholders.

    • Confidence, drive and initiative.

    • Excellent bias for action, shows accountability and responsibility and has a ‘can do’ attitude.

    • Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at once, as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
