    HSE Manager Skretting

    Job Description:

    In a world with limited natural resources and a growing population, the demand for food is constantly rising. Sustainably meeting this demand poses challenges in a variety of fields – including Health, Safety, and Environment. The HSE Manager for our Skretting division will play a lead role in establishing the Zero incident and Zero waste culture within our operations on the division/regional/country and local level and ensure that operational HSE delivery is in accordance with the industry’s and Nutreco’s global safety & environment management systems and standards.

    Health, Safety, and Environment has always played an important role in Nutreco’s purpose of Feeding the Future. Recently, we have further strengthened our commitment by outlining our transition to a Zero incident and Zero waste culture throughout our operations worldwide. To support this transition as well as the continuous improvement of our HSE management, we are looking for an HSE Manager to join the Skretting team.

    The HSE Manager will report to the Global HSE Director as well as to the CEO of the division and the Managing Directors.

    What are your key accountabilities?

    • Align with the global HSE strategy and support the local management in developing Skretting HSE strategic roadmaps and objectives.
    • Ensure comprehensive and efficient implementation of Nutreco’s HSE management system within the region/countries/Local sites and actively support the development and improvement of the Nutreco Health Safety and Environment Management System as part of the operational excellence programs.
    • Be the division point of contact and reference for Health, Safety and Environment for all Nutreco’s sites within the scope of responsibility.
    • Lead by example and continuously manage HSE improvement and compliance within the region by leading the cultural change to a Zero Incident and Zero Waste mind-set.
    • Build a sustainable HSE commitment, awareness, knowledge, behaviours and engagement of the regional management and employees.
    • Deliver regular HSE performance reports and management reviews to Regional and Global Management.
    • Provide guidance and develop the regional HSE management team.
    • Responsible for building a team of qualified HSE to support the local sites.
    • Ensure the highest levels of qualification, skills and key competencies (audits, investigation, risk analysis, reporting, communication, training, coaching and prevention) are provided for the management and HSE team within the region and identify improvement areas to accelerate the implementation of the Zero incident and Zero waste mind-set.
    • Plan, prepare and conduct internal safety inspections and assessments in Nutreco organizations and initiate / monitor corrective actions based on findings and occurrence investigations
    • Support, Initiate and/or carry out investigations on occurrences if applicable
    • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of an operational risk register and the legal surveillance per country.
    • Enhance experience sharing by promoting exchange of resources and support.
    • Assure participation in global expert groups and the Global HSE Council.
    • Participate at events to promote and share HSE expertise.

    What you bring

    • Strong leadership experience, ideally in a multi-cultural, international business environment.
    • University technical degree/ professional qualifications or equivalent in related field, required. MBA desirable.
    • Min. 8 years of experience in senior management of quality, safety, health and environment.
    • Industry Certification: such as certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist; NBOSH diploma or equivalent in safety management.
    • 4-5 years’ experience in production environment, preferably with a specialty area in feed or food industry.
    • Successful experience in implementing ISO/OHSAS management system ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001. Certified auditor, desirable.
    • Knowledge of region / country specific laws and industry regulations related to safety, health and environment.
    • Proven track record in the implementation of HSE systems and behavioural based safety programs.
    • Operational and general compliance orientation.
    • Experience in risk assessments, accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis.
    • In-depth knowledge of MS Office and data analysis.
    • Willingness to travel extensively within and without the geographic region (about 30-50%).
    • Fluent command of English, as the corporate language and Spanish, any other language is a plus
