    hotel manager Amsterdam

    As the Hotel Manager you create the optimal working climate supporting the hotel team to deliver the desired guest experience.

    Our hotel manager is responsible for all aspects of the hotel’s operation, working collaboratively with the different departments in the support office, creating the optimal working climate that enables the hotel team to deliver the desired guest experience, maximise revenue opportunities , control costs in line with budgets and comply with local legislation

    The following are core work activities of a hotel manager’s responsibilities.

    pursue guest satisfaction

      • work alongside the hotel team to welcome our guests;
      • actively seek ways to deliver a memorable guest experience at citizenM, no matter how big or small, and empower the hotel team to do the same
      • maintain the hotel environment to ensure a clean and comfortable experience in accordance with citizenM brand promises
      • supervise the general security of our guests and colleagues


      • lead, encourage, and inspire Ambassadors and Management to support the operational success of citizenM;
      • ensure all hotel employees understand citizenM brand values
      • recruit qualified, energetic, positive, and proactive citizenM colleagues
      • train and coach Ambassadors and Assistant Hotel Managers to improve the service provided to the guest, and the financial success of the hotel
      • develop and nurture talent, provide feedback via monthly and yearly evaluations
      • oversee hotel staffing to ensure efficient workforce management in the hotel
      • be responsible for your own personal planning and work organization
      • regularly and accurately report to the support office on matters such as financial performance of the hotel, payroll, invoicing, and human resources
      • ensure a working understanding of legislation that governs the operation of a hotel and its activities in the Netherlands; including employment law, health and safety, food safety, alcohol licensing, first aid and fire safety
      • apply citizenM rules and guidelines at the hotel, and establish hotel specific practices to improve guest satisfaction, and financial performance

      food and beverage

      • demonstrate exceptional product knowledge of canteenM and oversee practices to maintain the quality of the product provided to the guest
      • oversee the management of Food and Beverage revenue targets and develop strategies and hotel specific tactics to reach monthly goals

      maximize revenue opportunities

      • seek opportunities to generate revenue while providing added value to our guests
      • lead the hotel team to improve hotel room inventory management while ensuring rooms are maintained and presented in top condition; and
      • report hotel revenue and be responsible for the handling of all cash

      cost control

      • oversee the purchasing of all food and beverage items and hotel operating equipment
      • manage stock in-line with fluctuating levels of business, minimizing waste, and delivering a monthly stock report


      • enjoy being in a dynamic, "hands on" work environment
      • have strong communication skills
      • have 3-5 years managerial experience
      • Are fluent in verbal and written English
      • are an open and positive team player
      • love to meet and greet different people
      • are passionate about the things you are doing

    These activities do not limit a hotel manager’s responsibility for the hotel’s operations, or other assignments given by citizenM leadership.
